MILWAUKEE. Wis. Aug. It (Special
Telfgram.) Hugh Duffy, owner and man
ager of the Milwaukee Western league
team In thla city, todav again emphatically
denied the story that the Western league
was to abandon Milwaukee, and asserted
most positively that the season would b
played out as scheduled. As an evidence
of this he displayed offer for some of his
best players at good figures, which he had
rejected, and stated that if be was Intend
ing to abandon th field he certainly would
not overlook such an opportunity to secure
some money out of it.
