STORY OF ROMANCE OF ONE YEAR AGO

Thomas Walton of Boston, who set
Omaha society agog a year ago, I" to again
visit in this city. He will be preceded ty
hid wife, formerly Mlaa Ida Leisge. The
latter la expected Jn a few days and ahe
will be the gueet of the family of her
father, Henry Leisge. at Thirty-second
and raclflc atreeta. Though the marringa
of the two occurred over a year ago, the
fact la known only to a few Intimate
friends of the family.
Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson of Boston, who
waa the fiance of Walton when the latter
waa worahiplng at the ahrlna of Mies
Lelege, and who brought to a aensatlonal
close Walton's brilliant career In Omaha,
la still Mrs.. Elisabeth Thompson. Bhe Is
tha same kind-hearted, forgiving woman
who followed a recreant lover across .the
country, caused hla arrest for embezzling
her money and then 'refused to prosecute
because she felt sorry for him.
Her gifts to Walton and his bride. It la
said, have been both numerous and costly,
among them being a half interest in a drug
establishment upon the occasion of their
marriage and 150 to Mrs. Walton as a balm
for the trouble and embarrassment the
widow's advent Into Omaha caused her.
This present was made when Walton waa
escorted to Boston by Mrs. Thompson.
Upon their arrival Jn Boston Mrs. Thomp
son, the story goea. Informed Walton that
hla marriage to her waa not compulsory.
Ths latter Immediately sent for Miss Leisge.
Over the protest of bcr parents the latter
went to Boston, and In a church In the
suburbs of that city the two were married.
Since that time Mrs. Thompson has been
a frequent visitor at the Walton home and
he la numbered among their best and
dearest friends.
Are Now Parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Walton are now the parent
of an Infant child who will be christened in
thechurch in which the wedding ceremony
was performed before Mrs. Walton starts
for Omaha.
The story of Walton's career Is still fresh
In the minds of the people of Omaha, He
llrst came here over a year ago. He waa
liberally supplied with money, waa a good
spender, a good mixer, and at once broke
Into the exclusive circles. The first rumor
that touched his name was when a partner
of Mra. Thompson arrived here from Bos
ton looking for the young man. But Wal
ton was gone. Later he again came to
Omaha and Immediately upon his arrival
be was arrested and locked up charged with
larceny as bailee. The complainant was
Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, fine arrived here
the day of Walton's arrest. Her story was
to the effect that she and Walton were en
gaged to be married and that ahe had sent
him to Iowa to sell a farm she owned.
Walton bad sold the farm for something
over $5,000 and it was upon this money that
he was having his gay time In Omaha,
But Mra. Thompson was compassionate.
When Bhe saw her erstwhile lover In the
cold, cold cell she asked for an Interview.
The two talked from 7 until 11 o'clock one
evening. At the conclusion of the con
versation Walton had decided to return to
Boaton and Mrs. Thompson had agreed to
dismiss the prosecution. The complaints
kad been filed In Council Bluffs, and the
two, accompanied by an officer, went there
the following morning. Here Walton's
dream of a speedy release waa badly
shaken, for tbe prosecuting attorney re
fused at first to withdraw the charge. The
-widow finally begged and pleaded until he
relented.
Walton's Heart Grows Colo.
' The couple then went to the station to !
eturn to Boston. It ' was here that
Walton showed again that hla heart had
grown cold. - He allowed Mrs. Thompson
to board the train alone and in the shadow
he kissed goodby a little woman In white.
It wss believed then and Is now that this
was the present Mrs. Walton, for she had
gone to Council Bluffs to see him. It was
reported at the time that Mlas. Leisge and
Walton yiad been married before the ad
vent of Mrs. Thompson, but this waa de
nied by Mr. Leisge.
