The fnlnn Pacific and it carmen, after a aerie of conferences lasting several days. have signed up an agreement, which with the exception of a 10 per cent increase In wsgeg Is counterpart of the old agree ment Introduced one year ago. The new compact Is to be effective for two year. - The pipemen and boiler woodworkers Are now in conference with Superintendent McKeen of the motive power department. One year ago, when tha machinists, blseksmiths and bollermakers went on strike, the carmen became dissatisfied with certain conditions and made known their grievances to the company, with the result that they were adjusted and the men re turned to work on what waa termed a pre mium basis contract, good for one year. On the expiration of this contract th car. men and th officials took up matters and arrived at new term which are highly satisfactory to the men. The 4-annen have been on no strike and their conferences all have been amicable. Piecework ha not been an issue.
