The Nebraska Louisiana Purchase Ex position commission haa established head quarter at room 414 McCegue building, and H. O. Shedd of Lincoln, assistant sec retary, ha been placed In charge. Mr. Ehedd la the only person o far connected with the work who la under a salary and it la the Intention of the commlsMon to secure, a far aj poalble, volunteer work er for the different place required to be filled. The first of these volunteer se cured 1 James Walsh of Benson, who haa placed himself at the service of the com mission as chief of the agricultural de partment. He will devote considerable Ume In tha Immediate future to corre Vondlng with people in the state who de alre to prepare special displays of grain and other field products for the Nebraska exhibit The commission haa In course of prepa ration a circular which will be sent to the farmer of the state calling for the culti vation of grain and other field producta for exhibition. One thousand dollars ha been set aalde by the commission to be paid aa premiums to the Nebraska produc ers. The commission haa not decided how the money will be divided, this being left to a meeting to be held after the effect of the first circular la known. Spare for tho Exhibit. Nebraska has secured 8,000 feet of floor pace In the Agricultural building at 8t Louis and the state exhibit will be pre served In lta entirety. There ha been some talk of having the counties of the tate keep their exhibits separate, but this Idea la opposed by some of the members of the commission, who do not believe It would produce the most harmonious ar rangement. Bpeaklng of this, O. W. Wat tles, chairman of tha commission, said: "While the matter haa not been finally decided. It appear to those who oppose the plan of county segregation that such a division would be arbitrary rather than scientific and that It would leave the dis play unequal. At the same time It 1 still an open queatlon to be decided later." The exhibit to be shown In the agricul tural class will be entered into competition Individually, and not aa the products of any state or political division. The name of each exhibitor will be placed upon each of the exhibits, t together with hi post office address, and the prlxea offered will go to the producer, the only exception be ing where the exhibit la the work of some society.
