COLORADO BPKING8. Colo.. Mar .
iSpedsl Telegram.) In a long-drawn-out
luKRlng match the Colorado Springs team
today humiliated the Omaba tram by a
scor of 14 to 1. The time mat not worthy
of the name. The term horseplay would
better describe It. Rourte sat on the bench
through the game Wearing a look of utter
disgust, although ha did not say a word
to any of hli men. A glanca at the hit
column of the Colorado Spring! team tells
(he tale. All took a fall out of Henderson,
Omaha's young pitcher. mtist be said
In Justice to him, however, that he worked
like a Trojan every minute of play, even
after the rest of the team laid down. It
was simply his day off. Henderson had
good speed and at times effective curves,
but the Millionaires had their batting
clothes on and went after him. The game
was wholly uninteresting, about half of the
crowd leaving the grounds In the sixth
Inning. The Omaha team left tonight for
the east. Score:

COLUMBIA OUTSAILS RELIANCE
Jfew Cop Defender Distanced by a
. Quarter of av Mile la Twenty
" Mlnates.
GLEN COVE, L. I.Y May 8 It needed
Just twenty minutes today for Columbia to
demonstrate that In a light wind and beat
ing to windward It is a better boat than
Reliance.
Starting from a position to leeward and
slightly astern of Reliance Columbia sailed
through the new boat's lee, tacked across
Its bow and In the next leg of a mile and a
half Increased Its lead to nearly a quarter
of a mile. Reliance then withdrew.
When Columbia went through Its lee Re
liance kept off and voluntarily gave up the.
advantage of Its windward position, but It
was none the less decisively r.nd emphatic
ally outsailed. This waa the first brush be
tween the rivals.
The sea wss as smooth as a pond and
both boats carried mainsail, staysail, work
ing lib and small club-topsail. At the
start of the race Reliance was a little
ahead and to windward of Columbia. Re
liance held Its position only a few minutes,
for as the breese freshened Columbia drew
up In astonishing fashion, ran by it to lee
ward and In ten minutes was leading the
new boat by lengths. Columbia heeled
easily, while Reliance stood up much more
stiffly, carrying more canvas.
Columbia went ahead and steadily drew
away, seeming to foot faster and sail closer
to the wind.
It wss a quarter of a mile ahead on the
twenty minutes race.
