fin Entire Shipload of Fine Straw Hatting in Litigation- The Choice
of the Entire Lot on Sale Holiday Homing.
A well known San Francisco importer recently bought an entire shipload of Straw Mat
ting. When it came into port he refused to receive it because some of the goois were not
equal to the samples shown him. The goods have just been sold at public auction to pay
the ship owners' freight for bringing this cargo across the Pacific ocean. The choice of the
entire lot was bought by us at about one-half its regular value-
This is the purchase we announced about two months ago. At that time we bought
the entire shipload from the owners, who were then enjoined from selling them to us, the
court declaring that the goods should be offered at public auction.
The purchase consists of all grades of Chinese heavy and Japanese fine cotton warp mat
tings, many of them in new and beautiful art carpet ef iects. Never before have such high-class
Straw Mattings been sold anywhere at the prices at which we will offer them Monday,
May 4th. We have divided them into three great lots as follows:
BRANDEIS EXCLUSIVE PATTERNS
In our dress goods department we have the highest
class exclusive patterns in this city. We represent
the best manufacturers of France, in voiles, et amines
