CATTLE There were not as many cattle
here today as arrived a week ago, but re
ceipts were about the same as they were
a year ago. The market was in fairly good
chape and no particular change from the
cioao of last week was noticeable.
Receipts included about bo cars of corn
fed steers. While the prices paid were just
about -steady with those in force last Fri
day there aid not eeem to be the life and
snap to the market that characterised It at
that time. Trading was not very brisk, but
still all the early arrivals were disposed
of In goca seatun, ana tne marsec was ,
generally quoted a little s.ow, but about j
Bteaoy. I nere were no eTricwjr prune
on sate, so that the top price does not look
very high on paper.'
The cow maract was more brisk than
the trade on steers and the pr.ces paid were
fully steauy. All the buyers, though,
wanted the better grades ot both cows and
heifers, while the canuers were slow sale,
th tame as tney were last week. The
market on that ciass of stuff could not be
quoted any tower, but It was certainly no
h'xuf.s. vesl calves and stags all sold wlth
..., much trouble In the same notches they
did last week.
The stocker and teeaer maraec was ac
tive and tul.y s eady on sll desirable grades.
Even the warmeo-up cattle' that sold for
feeders brought fully as much as the same
kinds did at the close of last week. There
were quite a lew cattle In the yards, but
still buyers bought up all the good kinds
at an eary hour. The common kinds of all
weights were more or .ets neglected, but
they sold steady with last week. Repre
