Judge Berka's court room was the soene
of a domestlo confllot of an exciting nature
yesterday. Everett Miller was charged
with having made an unprovoked assault -upon
bis wife, to whom he has been mar
ried about four weeks. He wig placed on
the stand and swore that he had never
choked his better half and Intimated that

tience bad been taxed to Its utmost degree
several times, but that the crisis came
when Mr. Miller jabbed a hat pin three
Inches Into his anatomy. He admitted that

swore that he stood In fear of his wife
through her repeated threats that ' she
would "make him fit for a coroner." He
explained that be might have bandied Mrs.
Miller roughly during these attacks, put
not through anger on his part
The court believed his story, turned a
deaf ear to the tale unfolded by Mrs. Miller -and
released the prisoner.
