The month was marked by exceptionally
mild temperatures In all districts east ot
the Rocky mountains, with excessively
heavy rains on the north Pacldc coast sod
from the lower Atlantic to tho west gulf
coast and over tho Average in a large por
tion to the routh Atlantic and gulf states.
Tbo reports generally show that winter
wheat was in very promising condition at
the close of the monlh. With ample mois
ture and exceptionally mild tcmperaturn

leys in Oklahoma and Texas.
In the early sown the Hessian fly hal
appeared extensively, but this pest has not
affected the late sown, which Constitutes

north Pacific coast the weather has been

committee of the house held its first meet
ing today and took prompt action In the
direction of getting an anti-trust measure
before congress at the earliest possible mo
ment. Mr. Jenkins (Wis.), who has becomo act
ing chairman owing to tho retirement of
Judge Ray, referred all measures dealing:
with trusts to the subcommittee ot which
Mr. Ltttlefield of Maine is chairman, and
the subcommittee will go to work at once.

bill can be reported out of the full commit
tee before the adjournment of the Christ
mas holidays. The committee today unani
mously voted to request the speaker to ap

Brotherhood school at Point Lotna, In con

York and destined for that school should

While Mr. Sargent has not made his final
report, it is learned on good authority that
he finds the school provided with ample
means to take care of the children, anil
the children will be admitted within a day

a suit in the federal oourt here against the
Denver & Rio Grande Railroad company and
the contractors furnishing It .with ties for
its road, to compel an accounting for tim
ber nlleged to have been Illegally cut from
government land In the southern part ot
this state.
A restraining order was at once granted
by Judge Hallett to prevent the felling of
any more timber In the regions mentioned
In the complaint. Frank J. Park, the tim
ber agent, who has made the affidavits upon
which the suit is based, estimates that be
tween 40,000,000 and 60,000,000 feet of lum
ber have been Illegally taken from the tim
ber reserves.
