SCORE OXCE ON THE CUARDS Highland Park Plajer Inns 113 Tarda for Their Only Touchdown. SOLDIERS PILE UP THIRTY-SIX RUNS Sensational Play Was First Time frnarda Uoal Has Been Crossed since Ora;nnlsed Three Years Aaro. Although the Highland Park collegians from Des Moines went down In defeat yes terday afternoon before the Dodge Light Guards In the best (game of foot ball seen here this season they have the distinction of being the first team to score against the soldiers since they organized a foot ball team three years ago. The game, which resulted In another victory for the Dodge. Light Guards by a score ot 36 to 5, was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd ot 600 persons. Up to the end of the first half It looked as if the soldier foot ball players were going to maintain their record ot never having been scored against, but In the sec ond half the collegians succeeded in making a touchdown. During the first twenty-five minutes of the first half the ball never left the possession of the Dodge Light Guards and the Council Bluffs rooters had all the opportunity they needed to shout themselves hoarse. For the visitors Brug ger and St. Germalne did the best work while on the home team the star work was done by Dietrich, Williams, Thomas, Datley and Richmond. Council Bluffs won the toss and selected the south goal. Strack kicked off to the twenty-yard line to Dietrich, who advanced the ball twenty-five yards. Stuart went around end for ten, Dietrich for fifteen, Thomas twenty, Dietrich ten, Richmond seven, Dietrich two and Richmond went, over the line for a touchdown In three min utes of play. Thomas kicked goal. Score: Dodge Light Guards IS. Highland Park 0. This performance was duplicated a few min utes later. Highland Park kicked off to Thomas, who advanced the ball nearly to the center of the field and fumbled to Des Moines. There was much enthusiasm among the spectators at this point in the game as It was the first opportunity the visitors had of showing their worth on offensive work. Through a series of plays Highland Park advanced the ball to Council Bluffs' thlrty-five-yard line and attempted goal from the field with no success. ' Council Bluffs kicked off to Des Moines from the1 twenty-flve-yard line fifty-five yards and Des Moines failed to advance the ball and lost on downs. Thomas kicked goal. Score: Dodge Light Guards 30, Highland Park 0. Highland Park kicked off to Council Bluffs' five-yard line, ball was fumbled back of the goal and Dietrich brought the ball out to Council Bluffs' five-yard line.
