the part of city officers. He took occasion
to say that Herman Kountte had nrom-

ward In case he would be elected without a
contest.
Isaac E. Congdon followed Mr. Wattles
and In the courts of hit remarks took oc
casion to defend the proverbial "Omaha
mossback." He said the "moethacks" were
the men wbo made it possible for the town
to exist In an early day and they could not
be expected to show the vim and vigor to
day that they had then shown. He said
that Omaha It in better shape than It hat
ever been and that the outlook for all lines
of business la bright.
Short talks were then made by A. J. Kldd
and L. Day of Brazil, Ind., J. Murray Tay
lor of Louisville, Ky., and H. 8. Bnyder of
Kentucky, delegates to the Christian church
convention.
At the close of the meeting the president
announced that at the next meeting nomi
nations for officers of the exchange for the
coming term would be made and that the
I election would be held the succeeding week.
