Alfred Millard and Byron Hastings of
Omaha, with F. I. Reber of Hooper, Neb.,
returned yesterday, from a visit of in
spection In the northwest territory of Can
ada, where tbey Intend soon to buy 1S.00Q
or 20,000 acres of land as a speculation. Mr.
Rebcr states that along the railroad It It
selling for $8 to $12 per acre, but that far
ther back,- by buying extensively, they ex
pect to get $5 and $8 land, or even less '
and In a section where wheat la running
thirty to forty bushels to the acre. He
states, too, that now that the new Canadian
administration, by ill vigorous Immigration
campaign, has gotten enough slates people
up there for the Canadians to become ic
qualnted with their ways and mannerisms,
the new arrivals are cordially received and
encouraged to locate. The full-blood Brit
ishers are not so cordial, or at least not so
demonstrative, but the real Canadians are
fond of the phrase "our American couslof."
They seem to think that when land gets up
to $25 anywhere it has reached an eaor
mous figure and are Cheerfully iltlag to
let It go at considerably leas.
