Th egg market weakened a little aa the supply was fairly large and the quality goou ror tnis time or tn -ear. rounry also eased off a, little, owing to liberal receipts. Th distribution of fall font may now be said to h at Its height. Omaha. Jobbers and manufacturers In fact enjoyed the bent trade, last week that they have had in many months and some of them claim to .hav broken all previous records. At any rate the city was full of buyers all the week and as they ar all looking for a big fall trade their orders were naturally ot liberal proportions. It Is very noticeable that a good many new merchants ar ar riving on th market this fall. Rome of them are buying opening stocks and others fere simply new to this market. One Jobber tated that about a third of his customers laat week were men who had never bought In Omaha before to his knowledge, which b takes) as a good Indication ot th grow ing popularity or umana as a joooing cen ter. C 1 SHEEP There were several cars of aheap In the yards this morning, but they were simply stopped here for rest and were not orrered on tne market, rtir me wees: re ceipts have been fairly liberal, a good gain having been made over the correepondng week of last year. Aa compared with tho big run of last week there Is a decrease. Owing to the liberal receipts at this point as well as at others the general tendency of prices waa downward. Sheep, though, did not suffer as a general thing more than liftl5c, though some of the common kinds may have eased off a little more than that. Trading was active on most days and the bulk of the decline came at the end of tha week. Lambs broke worse than sheep and as a feneral thing are right around 25c lower, t takes choice western lambs now to bring $5.00, though some natives have sold aa hgh as to.40. in extreme cases the com moner grades of lambs are a little more than 25o lower for the week, iut, generally speaking, the market la only a quarter lower. Tho demand for feeders has been fully eciual to the supply all the week snd until about Filday the market held steady. Buy ers, tnojgn, took advantage 01 tne break on fat stuff to round the msrket on feed ers, but as compsred with the close of last week good stuff Is not more than a shad lower. Q 1 CATTLE There were not enougn came here today to make a market, and very little business waa transacted. For the week receipts show a good Increase over tha corresuondlng week ot last year, but as compared with last week there la a slight falling off. The demand on the part of bolb pacgera and leeaer Buyers nas oren of liberal proportion, and aa a result the tendency of values has been upward. The supply of cornfed steers has been very light all the week, but the demand has been liberal and the prices paid. If any thing, are a little stronger man tnose in force last week. It Is the good cattle thnuirh. that Deckers want, and not tho warmed-ups, ror tney preter westerns to that class or stun, uooa came, mougn, have met with ready sale at strong prices all the weak. ' The oow market was not aa heavily sup. piled this week as anticipated, and for that reason trading was quite active and prices ruled a little higher. The greatest advance Is on tha cutters ana tnose a lime oetter than cutters. In other words, the kinds that sold a week ago around $2.90 to $3.16. These kinds are fully lofflibc higher ana some sales looked as much as 25o higher for the week. Canners nave not shown much change, and while there has been an active demand for tht choice grades, values have shown but little change, though the market may be quoted strong. There has been quite a scarcity of veal calves ana nrlcea have ruled a little higher. Bulla and stag ot aesiraoie quality nave also commanded strong prices. The do mand was good from both packers and feeder buvers. This haa been an active week In ths atneker and feeder division.. Very few strictly native feeders have neen offered and tne most 01 tnose mat am come tor ward were of rather common quality. Any thing good, though, sold al strong prices all ths week. The western range Blockers and feeders attracted the most attention As enmuared with last week the heavy western feeders are strong, but still prices are very little higher. Horned cattle, lu particular, are only about steaay, put me rrmlpa dehorned steers showing flesh. weight and quality are possibly a lime higher. The cattle that hav ahown the moat Improvement are the yearlings, and also the 2-year-olds thst weigh from 7"0 to 860 pounds. Those kinds. The discrimination agatnat horned rattle atlll continues, and the dehorned cattle of the same quality sell from 25c to 500 per hundred higner. Western beef steers were rsther scarce this week, aa feetier buyers took o many r.i tha heavv cattle. On Monday and Tues day values wers a jttlt lower, but the loss has been more man regained since tno time, ini the week In closing with an ad vance of li815c.
