CATTLE There was a liberal run of
cattle here today, and in fact there were
more than anticipated after vaaterrinv's
comparatively light receipts. For the week
to date supplies have been about the same
as for the first half of last week, but as
compared with the same days of last year
there Is quite an increase.
Several loads of corn fed steers arrived
this morning and some of them Were of
pretty good quality. The better grades
brought steady prices, but of course the
only half fat stuff was neglected, the same
as usual, and if anything waa a Utile
lbwer. Nearly everything, however, at all
desirable was out of first hands in good
season, and the prices paid did not show
much change from yesterday.
The cow market also held up tn good
shape, as there were not very many In
cluded In the. receipts. The better grades
changed hands quite freely at Just about
steady prlcos, but the commoner kinds
were neglected and a little lower than
yesterday. It was rather late before the
common stuff was disposed of.
Bulls, veal calves and stags all sold at
Just about steady prices with yesterday.
The heavyweight feeders of good quality
were In active demand this morning, snd
the market held just about steady. Prime
yearlings also met with ready sale, biit
when It came to the medium weight cattle,
and by that ia meant those that weih
from 750 pounds to two, the market was
very dull and probably Hfyioc lower. If
the quality was poor they were extremely
bard to dispose- of at any price. .
The Chicago market was quoted generally
a dime lower this morping. and that seemed
to have rather a bad effect upon the trade
on weatern range eteers. The better graoes
sold at jirat about steady prices, but ths
commoner kinds were slow and lower.
Good cows also held about steady, but, ths
less desirable grad 'S Were a little lower.
Heavy feeders held steady, but medium
weight cattle were lower. Choice light
cattle did not show much change. . Repre
sentative sales: .
