Following n arly rally on frost report from th north west, price began sinking attain, and so general wu the selling that covering for short account couia not onwi m grcunra, At the close September wheat was o oft. Bentamber corn .'(flic lower and Reptem- fcer oata lkc down. Provisions were er- retlo and closed UcHAo lower. There we iodic uncertainty at the start Jn wheat Talk that there waa a food short Interest out, the cold weather In South .Dakota and Minnesota and fairly bullUh week-end atatlsllcs started a fair early demand. Bentltnent mors than news made the market weak and bears who held the whip In hand simply hammered price to suit themselves. One of the principal In ejentlve wilt bearish forecast of the gov rnment report that was die this after Tioon. Cables were lower, commission iinusea sold and prices slipped off. Later there was a rally on rood seaboard clear ance and fair export trade, Selling, however, set In again and the close waa siesr the bottom. September opened a had lower to Sa up at 7&i8Vt,c and old at 684e, declined to 6So and closed weak 0 off at S7yftP4c. Local receipt Were 421 cars, 3 of contract jrrade; Minne apolis and Lultith reported 177 car, making total for the three points of bW cars, a pa Inst (73 last week and 64V a year ago. J'rlmary receipt were 1,170,000 bu., com pared to 1,458,000 bu. last year. Seaboard clearance in wheat and flour equaled 707. KI bu. Breadstuff on passage Increased. X8,000 bu. World's shipment were 6.6W6, bu,, against 10,ti0,0n0 bu. a year ago. The visible supply decreased 199,000 bu. K York reported 60 load taken for ex port. After opening firm and higher corn turned weak and 8eptemter sold down to new low mrk-he. There wa heavy eJIIng for short account. Crop reports ware good, but receipt were still small. Frosts In Iowa and early covering helped prices tip a trifle, but new that the corn southwest wa ready for feeding and' that hipping would soon follow star ted re newed depression. Expectation were for 'a very bearish government report. To ward the close a decrease In the visible 'supply and covering for short account helped In a rally. September opened HWo to gc up at aa to RlTiC slumped to two and closed weak, fcty'io down, at bbc. Receipt were 7 car. Heavy liquidation and weakness In other pits brought weakness to oats. Offering were very liberal and receipt were heavy at 829 enra. At the tart there wa a slight upturn, but the close showed price at the bottom. September sold from aHc to 29c, where It closed weak, l"4c down. Provision were erratic There was an arly decline on a weak hog market, but this was checked for a time by influential covering. Then came the depression in ora and oata and another slump set in. September pork closed 26a down at 116, September lard 12o off at $1056 and Sep tember rib 45c lower at S9.57V. There were very few cornfed on sale and in fact there were none at all that could bo called choice. The market wa active all around on good stuff and about steady, but, of course, the common kinds were mors or less neglected. The few cornied steers that were offered sold at just about steady prices where the quality was at all good, but a test of the market was not made on finished cattle. It was the general opinion, though, that a choice bunch would have sold to good ad vantage. The half-fat stuff was of course neglected and no more than steady. The cow msrket did not show any mate rial change. There did not happen to be a many on sale as anticipated and for that reason the market held up in pretty good shape. - In some cases, however, sales were made that were a little weaker and the general situation could best b described by calling the market steady to a little easy. Bull, veal calve and stags all sold In about the same notches they - did at tha close of last week. The demand for atockers snd feeders of good Quality continued active and tha market could safely be quoted fully steady auu in some caLaea u luoaeu a little mgner, The common kind of course did not move any too readily and were no mors tnan ateaay. A noted above, the big bulk of tho rs- celpts consisted of range cattle and a large proportion of the steers were good enough for killers. A new lop waa put on the maritet too ay wnen a ouncn or Bouta Dakota grade Hereford sold at $6.35, which la the hi lies t price ever paid on this market for range cattle. The general market on the better grades of steers wa active ana Tuny steady, common and part fat kinds, though, were a little dull. Ranee cows were steady to a shade lower, but lainy active, uooa stocaer sna feeders sold readily at fully steady prices, but the less desirable grades were slow and pareiy sieauy. representative sales: BEEF STEERS. "41 otne" points the market went luiiiuiiiiar nere. also. At the start the d' cnne amounted to about 10tj:i5c, but the situation grew worse at a rapid rate and on the close trading was very dull at a uecune 01 xuc, as compared with Baturdav. The bulk of the early aales went from $7.00 to $7.10, with a top of $7.20. The last 20 or 25 loads, packers tried to buy right around $6.90 and $6.96, but a Hellers were not will ing to take off that much It was late before anything like a clearance was made. Heavy hogs Buffered the worst today, while the medium and lightweights of good quality sold to the best advantage. Today's decline carries the market to the lowest point reached since May 28.
