There was practically nothing new developed dur. tng the day la th FInkelstetn murder case Th chief of police went Into a Justice court this morning and filed Information eccus Ing Jame .Walker, a negro, with ths mur der of Finkelstela, and Harry Levlch with being acoeescry to the crime, Th friends of Levlch had tried In vain to see him or Cad out where be was being secreted and they demanded that an at. torney. be allowed to communicate with him. This was refused and they vreut be fore Judge McIIcnry in the district court and obtained a writ ef habeas corpus for the production, of the defendant la court. They war very much Incensed that th police should refuse ,to allow anyone ta see Levlch. . He I not a strong man and baa been in poor health for soma time and they feared that confinement and the worry of .sot knowing what was to b don with him would lead te serious consequence. Th police bad taken him. from tha city Jail and hid him In a private bouse where he was being guarded. . . The friends of Levlch stoutly Insist that be bad nothing to do with the case and that the police have nothing more than a surmise on which to base their accusations. It was known that Levlch sad Flnkelstein had been business rivals and enemies and some time ago they bad a serious quarrel. but the friends and relatives of Levlch assert that this could not have been th cause of the crime. Th herlfTa force take side with Levlch and refuse to credit th claims of th polio force. Walker Is entirely unknown and It Is stated he has been la the city but a short time. Both Lsvlch and Walker were arraigned In Justice court today and preliminary bearing was set for next week. The writ of habeas corpus was served and afterward dismissed on showing that th men bad been regularly accused and arraigned. : Applica tion was made to the district court for bail and Judge McHenry decided that ball would be allowed .unless the police can make a strong showing; of guilt. He gsve them until 10 o'clock tomorrow to da this. Admit Osteopaths to Practice, Th Suit Board of Medical Examiner today Issued certificates to S75 osteopaths under the new law. This Includes all ho applied and who mad a showing, that they bad been In practice before July 4 last, when the law went into effect. The board received an opinion from th attorney general that under tho decision of the Iowa supreme court the time t oei ta applications waa previous to July 4 Instead of th date of the actual signing of the bill. All oeteepatba who apply and show that they were engaged in practice In Iowa, previous to July 4, wilt be admitted to praettee aa'wuch. without examination.
