6POKANR, Wash., Aug. 7. When vth
sheriff, with th body of Tracy, Jrov
throueh rDvenport, hundred of ' people
followed up and. crowded about th wagon.
By the tiro th wsgna reached Stone'
morgue the street were crowded and from
very corner could be beard "Thre cheers
for Lincoln county." .
Th town wa wild. Th morgue door
had to be closed and th crowd wa asked
to stand bark. Several person wer al
lowed to e tb body and then trouble
began,' Everyone wanted a rello, and la a
abort tlm nothing wa left but th body.
Someon even picked up th blood-stained
bandktrchlef which bad been used by
Tracy to keep from bleeding to death,
j Many lock of tb dead man' balr were
carried' away and In many place hi bead
bad been mad bald. HI trousers wer
cut lata atrip and befor they wer di
vided they wer cut lata, smaller piece.
- Many of . Tracy's cartridges wer di
vided among tho members of th poss and
thos tbat could get at th buckskin bag.
DAVENPORT. Wash., Aug. 7 Th cur
ious ar flocking to Davenport from all
directions to view th body of Harry Tracy,
the dead outlaw. Tho Inquest ha been
started at th courthouse, but the body la
still, at. th undertaker' room. Th In
quest will not likely be concluded till to
morroa4. a witnesses from Oregon can
hardly get la today.
The body probably will be takea t Spo
kan a Saturday aad later sent to Salem,
Or., for burial at th penitentiary. Tracy'
gun may be distributed among th Crestoa
os - Hi other relic hav already bora
give o away.
r Another story, of Tracy's wenderful dar
ing b'aa com to light, Mr. McGregor, th
keeper of a livery stable at Wilbur, oa
viewlog Tracy's body, positively Identified
tracy as a man who cam to his atable last
Thursday ni.ht. He (Tracy) had two horse
Which he pit op (or the night, H alao
left Ms rifle and a bundle, asking th un
suspecting ll ery man to take car of them
Until. morning. Where h spent th night I
not known, though it I aald be at at least
eae meal la n restaurant in the town. About
10 a. m., Saturday he called for hi fcorsea,
bundle,, and-riflo, paid his bill and lode
wr. . '
It 1 probable that the ft.lOO reward for
Outlaw Tracy will not be paid for some
tlm. owlns tortbe number of claimant,
Th bvy will be taken to Salem at the con
clusion of th Inquest at Davenport, Wash.
Governor Gear bas already stated that he
wa willing forvthe atat. to pay th re
ward a soon as proper identification (ball
b mad, but th reward will not be paid
until th -claimants reach an, agreement.
U now eem. likely that th aid of tha
court will be jnvoked. It I said that Gov
ernor Gear will alao favor th payment of
th 41,600 to Mrs, Waggoner for Merrlir
body at tb same tlm th reward 1 paid
fa"? Tracy. Governor McBrldo of Washing
ton has annouaoed that he will act in ac
eordaao , with ta decision of . the s!em
uthorUlaia paylag th reward.
