OTHER FOUNDRY PROPOSED
Ftathemons Company to Bsnew Nsrntis-
tions with Omaha Molders.
REPRESENTATIVE TO COME THIS WEEK
Rasinr Has It that rklrssa People
Are Ready ta Offer Better
Terras ta Me sabers of
Oaaka Ualoa.
Interest la the Omaha molders situation
was revived Monday morning by the receipt
of a message from ths Festherstone com
pany at Chicago, saying that concern would
end a representative to Omaha this week
to renew negotiations with the molders
for the establishment of a foundry here.
Since the Union Pacific foundry closed
down and the men were all thrown ont of
employment, the entire number hare been
Idle and awaiting some development In the
Festherstone proposition, which was taken
up soon after ths railroad operations
ceased. Too Festherstone company made
a proposal to erect a foundry In Omaha
which, when completed, would give work to
all the molders. and hacked Its proposi
tion with ths offer of a cash bonus to be
forfeited ta event of the failure to rarrv
out the conditions of the contract. In the
meantime the molders here, or as many
as desired, would be given employment st
ths Festherstone foundry in Chicago, this
to continue until the new foundry in Omaha
was resdy for operation.
This proposition was rejected by the loral
molaers, who questioned the sincerity of
the Featherstona company and considered
the Indemnity offered. Jl.f-oO, too small for
the considerations Involved.
While the details of the new proposition
to be submitted by the Festherstone people
this week are not known to the molders
here. It has been Intimated that they will
be such as the local men will be disposed
to sccept. It Is argued that the Feather
stone company has found, after a more de
liberate Investigation, thst tempting in
ducements are presented It In this city for
the establishment of a foundry and It la
willing to Improve upon Its former propo
sition very materially.
Naturally, the molders. thoss who have
been apprised of the developments, are
elated over the prospects of having a foun
dry here In their home city. They regard
mutually profitable solution of the situa
tion almost certain.
EXPECT NO SLEEPING TIME
Delegate to Democratic Stata Caa-
veatlna Anticipate aa All
MlBkt Sessloa.
A Burlington train leaving the Omaha
station Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock Is to
take to Grand Island for the democratic
state convention opening there at 2 p. m.,
the 127 Douglas county delegates, ma ay
members of the Jacksonian club and some
of the delegstes from Sarpy, Burt, Wash
ington and Thurston counties. At Lincoln;
and Ashland others will be- picked up and
it Is thought thst the train will reach
the convention city about 2:30.
Some have been worrying about the hotel
accommodations of Grand Island. They re
veal that there are men en the delegation
that they wouldn't want to mingle with In
the dark now when relations are no more
brotherly than lasr Saturday's convention
left them. It is their opinion that If sev
eral of them went to bed together some
body might get up and turn oa the gas.
But the ling masters scout all worry
abont a placs to sleea. They .say there
will be do sleep. It will, tbsy are willing
tol wager, require all afternoon to perfect
ths organisation and then take all night
to transact the business, aa. there may be
much delay occasioned by the conferences
and negotiations with the populist hippo
drome that Is to be pulled off st the sama
tlms and In the same city, but under a
separata tent.
The Douglas county delegation proposes
to stand pat for Smyth for governor and to
force ths populists to accept him. "In that
event," said a prominent leader of the
hirsute contingent, "there surely won't be
any need of beds. The convention will last
all summer."

Within ten days the rails for the con

for the rails reached Omaha Monday
