Brooklyn Lad a glimpse of the Orient In he form of a Syrian wedding, performed according; to the ritual of the Maronlt church, reports the New Tork Times. Th services were held In the Roman Cathollo church of 6t. Charles Borromeo. The groom was Shekri Rahalm, a wealthy Syrian mer chant of Manhattan, and his bride, Monina Moshy, sister of Joseph Bay Mosby, a Sy rian nobleman now In business in New -York. Clad in a surplice of red brocade, over which hung a whit silk stole, richly em broidered, the officiating prleet stood di rectly in front of the main altar of th church, and facing the couple. Between him and them stood a small table holding crucifix and four small floral wreaths. two of lilies of the valley and two of. daises. During the ceremony tbe wreaths of the lilies of th valley stTt placed on the beads of th groom and bride and the daisy wreaths upon tbe arms of th best man and maid of honor by the priest. Then, after joining the hands of the pair. he pronounced a benediction and removed the wreaths. From the church the wedding party proceeded to the homo of the bridegroom, where the wedding party was met by a group of three musicians, one of w bom . had what looked like a Largs mandolin. or mandola, and th others a viola and tambourine. Just as ths bride and bride groom descended from the carriage th musician struck up a wild Arab air,, tinging the accompaniment of their In (trumenl. The song translated, began. "My lore has just arrived, open the door and let him in; w are desolate without him." Then th guests, singing and shoutfng, pelted the happy pair with con-, fettl. Tbey were carried within the house, and her they were hustled In ths cor ner, while th men and women danced around them, and tearing tbe bouqets w hUh decorated the room -in pieces, began to pelt them with the flowers until they were tired. The musicians kept themselves enthusiastically busy anv made as muck noise as they could. Finally, when all wer out of breath, sests wer brought, and. with th now furiously blushing brids and bridegroom at on end, the guests seated themselves. Wine, candy and cigarette were bronght, and ths young men began to read poetle tributes to th brids and to congratulat tbe bridegroom. Th festivities did not eud until after midnight.
