DEMAND FOR IRON GROWING
Blast Farnace Statiata skew at Moat
Healthy Condition 1st that
Industry.
NEW YORK, June 12. Our monthly blast
furnace statistics this time reflect, as they
should, says the Iron Age, the special con
ditions which prevailed on June 1. through
the temporary banking of a number of
stacks In the Shenango and Mahoning val
leys, the majority of which have since re
sinned. The result it that the capacity
of the coke furnaces In operation was only
K!!7:4K2 tons Jane 1, as compared with
845,627 tons on May 1. it Is probable, how-
ever, that the output of the current month
will be up to the 1,600,000-toa mark. It
reached 1,670,230 tons in May, a month of
thirty-one days.
From the west come reports of soma
buying oi foundry Iron for 19Bt delivery,'
but, on ths whole, melters of Iron seem dis
posed to await developments. - Spot Iron
continues exceedingly scare and higher, and
higher prices are being paid tor It.
Importations are continuing of low phos
phorus iron, both eastern Pennsylvania and
the Pittsburg district having taken round
lots.
The domestic production of tnanganlN
erous matter is at a low ebb, and the bulk
of our consumption is now covered by im
portations. The recent purchases by
one steel plant are 12,000 tons of splegels
tsen. Steel Is scares and It loaks as though
we shall have to Import tor some time to
coma. la the heavy lines, notably In ileal
rails, beams, structural matter and platea.
the xnills could run full to ths end of tha
year and In some lines well toward tha
middle of next year, in order to deliver nil
they have sold. In steel rails they will
certainly carry considerable work due la
lftOt and 1901. Tbey are- now selling ijuite
liberally for 1801 delivery, considerable ad
ditional sales having been mads iu ths last
week. The same Is true in an even mora
pronounced degree of structural matter, and
largely, too, of plate.

Yarku
WATERBUnY, Conn., June It. Judgs
Robinson of the superior court has handed
down a decision dissolving tha injunction
which restrained. the executor! of the Plant

which Charles E. Hosdley of this city la
entitled, at representing his children, must

they have collateral interest la tha estate.
He does not Sod, however, that according
to the will, they are la any way Interested
In the distribution of tha $17,000,000 trust
