Present Flans Are to Hare Them Bunuing by Thanksgiving Day. SOME DELAY IN DELIVERY OF RAILS Rate of Fare to Florence Not Yet Flsed, bat Officers of Road 6 ay It Mar Be Only Five Cents. If the plans of the management of the Omaha Street Railway company are carried out the residents of the village of Florence will be able to ride heme from Omaha by Thanksgiving day over the lines of that company. Manager 8mltv. yesterday Bald that the question of starting construc tion of that line depended entirely upon the receipt of rails, which were .ordered last December for March delivery. The poles and wire for the Florence ex tension have been ordered and are on the way to Omaha. They will probably arrive before the rails and will be put into place before the rails are laid. The exact route of the proposed ex tension has not been decided upon. At the inception ot the plan the. company desired to run over its own land, and the late Frederick Parker had decided to deed the company a right-of-way through his land. The death of Mr. Parker has changed the plans of the company, and It Is now prob able that the streets will be used. The question of fares over the extension to Florence has been dlscuased to a certain extent, but no decision has been reached. It has been said that the distance from South Omaha to Florence Is an exceedingly long one to carry a passenger for 5 conls, equalling. If aot exceeding, the distance tn any other route In the country, but, on the other hand, it is said by officers of the company that with the present system of transfers It would be practically impossi ble to make an exception of this line and charge more. As a compromise, It has been suggested that two fares be collected of transient patrons of the line and that special coupon books be issued to regular patrons, containing a number of tickets sufficient for two trips for thirty days, ths books to be sold at a rate to bring the fare down to 5 cents. It is said on good authority that the talked-of consolidation of the Omaha Street Railway company and the Omaha and Coun cil Bluffs line may be consummated. The matter has been under discussion for a year or more, and, while nothing definite has been decide! upon, some of the stock holders in both companies who were not favorable to the combination at first are now willing to consider It.
