At the same moment he atabbed himself In the left breast. Just over the heart He fell heavily backward and lay groaning on the sidewalk. Persons nearby who saw him fat helped him into tb saloon, where he frequently exclaimed: "Oh, let me die!" A short time before be left the saloon he tried to borrow revolver from the bartender, who refused to give it to him. While being taked In the patrol wagon to the police station he several time asked Police Surgeon Borglum If the wound would ba fatal. When he reached tb station he appeared to be suffering sharp pain and declared tbat he wa unable to lie down on the operating table.
