NEW YORK. Nov. 19. The stock market
todav was under the continued Influences
nnd factors which depressed values yester

of gold was the most effectual of them
motors, nut mo expresses uetcrminatiou oi
the executlvos of northwestern states to
use their Influence to contest tho opera

this engagement wns cnucclled and when
tho money mnrket wns seen to bo un

the private discount rate there, and a slight

Ixiudon and the continent, retlectcd tho
relaxation resulting from yesterday's outgo

largest part or tne requirements nro satis

that tho offerings of government bonds for
redemption will maintain the ease of tho
money market, even If more, gold goes out.
It Is not Improbnblo that tho spiling of
government bonds comes indirectly npurt
from the Interests who have to remit in

volves tho retirement of circulation to tho
nmount of the pur valuo of tho bond, off
setting that fur tho supply of money to tho

already reached the legal limit of $3,000,000
per montn ror tne, present month.
There wns somo special strength shown

The tone of the Slock exchango today w.ia

CATTLE Receipts of cnttlo continue lib

of local packera waa nlso In good shape.
They nil seemed to have liberal orders, so
that the better grades changed hnnns
rapidly at fully as good prices as wero

There wero not very many eorntcd steers
Included In the receipts and buyers wero
out early and paid good, firm prices for
all the better grades. The commoner kinds
did not move quite as freely, hut stilt the
market on atl grades coutd be quoted fully
steady with yesterday.
, uown anil neirers were also in gooa oe
mand, this morning and anything good was
bought up a steady to strong prices. Even
the medium grades and canners sold freely
at aood. steady, tirlces. so it was not Ioiik
before tho bulk of the offerings had changed
hands.
There was very little change noticeable
today In the prices paid for nulls, calves
and stags.
Thero was a liberal demand this morn
ing for heavyweight feeders showing qual

swering to thnt description In the yards
good strong prices were puld. Prime year
lings also commanded fully steady prices.
The medium weights, however, were slow
nnd barely steady. ' Anything on the com

most cases sold lower. Common stockers
In particular were a drug on the market,
nn no one seemed to want that elnss of

Bald they could hardly get a bid on their
common stockers or on their common

The supply ot range steers good enough

market wan strong and nctlve. Rnnge
cows also sold fully steady nnd so, nlo,
did good to choice stockers nnd feeders.
The common kinds, howpver, were dull nnd

HOGS There wns another big run ot
hogs hero today, making the supply for
tho two dnyn this week considerably
heavier than for the corresponding days ot
Inst week nnd nlso for the same day of
lust year. Tho market opened slow, with
the best hogs selling steady to a shade
lower. Tho light hogs on the start did
not soil at nil. us packers were all looking
for the' better and heavier grades. The
first sales were mostly from $5.60 to $5.65,
and as high ns $6.75 was paid for choice
londs. Pnckors, though, were slow to pay
tho prlcos, and as a result it was rather
late before the bulk of tho offerings wns
out of first hands. Later In the morning
tho mnrket took on mora life nnd gained
In strength. The close wus fully steady
with yesterday on tho heavier hogs, but
tho lightweights were slow and consider
ably lower tlun yesterday. In fnct, nbout
the only change In the market today from
yesterday wns the tendency to widen the
rnnge between tho heavy and light hogs.

consisted of feeders. Packers took hold
fnlrly well today, but still the feeling was
wcfik an urniinn nnu they wanted to buy
their supplies n little lower. In some ruses
sonic of the better grades sold nbout sternly,
but ns a general thing the mnrket could
be quoted a dime lower on both sheep nnd
lumbs, nnd In Mimo cases the decline wns
even greater. Most of the offerings, though,
were disposed of in fairly good season.
The feeder mnrket was very dull today,
hb very few btiyern were on the market.
Except In the case of something choice It
would bo safe to' call the feeder market
10iai6c lower and rather slow.

appear well satisfied with tho trade. Vnluos
are fully as llrm as a week ngo and deal
ers continue to tnlk of a strong and tinner
mnrket. The stock of wool offerings on
the mnrket Is materially reduced by thn
trading of the Inst three, weeks. Some linen
nro nnrrowed down considerably, this Is
noticeable In quarter-blood Ohio and stiiblo

nfter the heavy sales here for the purpose,
of replenishing stocks did not succeed In
purchnslng much wool, ns they found prices
too high for them to land wool here nnd
dispose of It nt a profit. The outlook for
