Receipts Included about 65 cars of beef steers and tho quality of the offerings as a whole was very good. Buyers were out early and on anything at all good the marKet could be quoted strong to a dime higher, or fully a dime higher for the last two days. As high us $5.5b was paid today for prime cattle, which Is the best price so far this year, the top previous to this time being $5 60, which was paid last week. Taking the market ns a whole today it wns in very good shape and prncticauy every thing was out of first hands In good season. There were only a few cows and heifers here today and some fancy prices wero pnld. All the buyers seemed to nave libornl orders and sellers took advantage of the opportunity to sell out at good prices. The market could perhaps beet be described by culling it strong to a dime higher and actlvo. It did not take long for sellers to dispose of what they had, and In most cases thev sot their own prices. Hulls also sold to good advantage today and the market can bo quoted strong on all desirable, grades. Stags also com manded very satisfactory prices, and veal calves sold fully us well as they did yes terday. As has been the case all the week, thero were not enough stockers and feeders on sale to make a market. The few odds and cuds changed hands at nominally steady prices. The inquiry rrom tne country con iieprcneiiiuiive saica; STEERS, tlnues rather light. BEEF rinstnn stock Quotations, BOSTON, May 23,-Call loans. 35404 per cent: time loans, 405 per cent.
