by sixty feet In width. On B street between
the east and west points the -street Is 101

by twenty feet In width. Measuring the
square feet. Mayor Kelly saya that there
Is at least an acre of ground to be consid
ered In the vacation. At the prices paid
by the railroads for property In this Imnie.

Councilman Miller is after the property

wooden sidewalks with something perma
nent. He says that the sidewalk on the
west side of Twenty-fifth street between
N and O streets Is in a deplorable condi
tion and should be torn up at once. MIIW
has consulted with property owners In this
district and has been promised that brlcl:
or stone walks will bp laid within a short
time. The walk north of the city hall
building on the east side of Twenty-fifth
street will bear relaying, as It is In a very
bad condition. All over the city boards are
missing from walks and the street commis
sioner can well put In his time nailing down
a few boards here and there and possibly
thus prevent accidents and the damagn
suits resulting therefrom.

Dealers In Ice will meet within a few
daj'B and prepare a schedule of prices for
the summer. It was stated yesterday by a
large dealer that Ice for domestic us?
would have to be shipped In here from
Minnesota In order to supply the demand.
To small consumers the price will be
Igher, but to those who take Ice In blocks
of 100 pounds at a time the price will be
bout the same as last year. All of the
ce bouses are short and this will nrceisl-
ate securing a supply from outside. A
great deal of Ice cut in this vicinity will be
retained by the packers for cooling pur-
oses and Icing refrigerator rara, thus cut
Ing short the supply for domestic con
sumption.
Another Damaa-r Salt.
Richard Brennan. who lives at Twenty-
fifth and P streets, has served notice on
he city that he was severely Injured by
reason of a defective walk on March 30
t Twenty-seventh and Q streets. He wants
the dty to pay him S5.000 damages. Bren
nan alleges that by reason of the city's
neglect the wall: and balustrade at the
west end of the Q street viaduct were in
poor repair on the date mentioned and that
he fell, breaking his left arm. The city
will have Mr. Brennan Inspected by a phy-
Iclan and will fight this rase the same
as others of a similar nature are being
fought. All damage, suits are now carried
to the supreme court.
