CATTLE Thero wns a good, liberal run
of cattle here for u Thursday, but taking
me maraei ns a wnoie Hie teellng wus u
little better. The market was not tiur-
tlcularly active, but at the sumo time tho
cume moven cusiur than yesterday.
There were no very choice fat cnttle
nero today, out pacKors pougnt up what
lew cars did arrive at Just about stcad
prices The better grades in some cases
mny have been u llttlo stronger, while In
others tho lees desirable kinds were barely
steady. Tnklng tho murkot as u while It
was hi very good shape anil It wns not
long before ull the offerings hud changed
hands.
Cowa wero not quite ns draggy ns they
were yesterday, though there was no par
ticular chnnge In prices. Some of the
choice grades sold 11 little stronger In
home cases, but the general run of stuff
held about steady.
The feeling on the feeder market wns
also a little improved today nnd somo of
the good heavyweight cattle brought a
llttlo stronger prices thnn they did yester
day. The common stuff ns a rule was
very slow sale nnd sellers In some cases
could Imrdb get rid of It ut uiiv price.
Yard traders have nbout all of that class
of stock they want for the present and ns
a res.ilt nre slow to take hold. Stock cows
and heifers were nlso about like yesterday.
Only a few were here und ns thn demand
from the country Is light prices did not
show uny Improvement.
Western beef nuttlo were again In good
demand today and brought good, steady
prices ns compared with yesterday. Cows
changed hands at about yesterday's
ngures ann in somo enses good cows may
have sold a little stronger. Oood weight
feeders sold sternly to strong, while thr
commoner grades were no moro than
steady. Representative sales:

IIOIIS There were about 140 enrs of hogs
here today, or the heaviest run since Sep
tember 13. In view ot the liberal supply I
and weak feeling nt other points the mar
ket here started out a little easier und seh-
ers cut loose .some of their hogs at a little
lower prices than their droves brought es- -tcrclay.
Ilefore much had been done, how- I
uver, It wns notlcenble that the packers all
wanted hogs, and prices tinned up so that
the mnrket wns uteudy lo strong us com- ,
pared wllh yesterday. The lightweights of
good quality sold largely from $5.20 to $5.25,
nnd good heavy nnd mixed hogs at $6 EH
and $5.20, with the less desirable hogs sell-
Ing around $5.15. On the curly mnrket there 1
'were of course quite u few loads of fnlrl
good stuff that brought $5.15. Puckers paid '
more attention to quality than to weight I
ngain today, and light hogs of poor quality
were negiecien nun inu inn commnnil tne
premium they did n few weeks ago, when
most anything lr light would sell well.
The extreme close of Hie murket was per
hnpn not quite ns good ns the high time,
und particularly wns this true of the less
