Tho forepart of the session In wheat wan
rather quiet, but nrtlvlty developed Inter
because of export buying. October opened
VrtUe higher lit "WiTl'ic, thus beginning
an udvunco wblrb lasted nenrly to tho enil.
Tho firmness tit the Hturt wiim duo to firm
ness nt Liverpool, to smnll northwest re
ceipts and to bad weather In tho north
west The export demand caused shorts
to cover rather freely and under this pro,
sure October iidviinred steadily to 75nC.
There was profit-taking at tho top. but the
closo wan strong. October l'sSl'ic Im
proved to V"''ic New York reported
t2 loads taken for export. Sales here were
600,000 bit. Itradstreot's world's visible sup
ply Increased 2,500.("M till. Primary receipts
were 1,292,'joO bu.. compared with 1.S,"iO
btl. last year. Minneapolis and Duluth
reported Ml cars, against 1,143 last week
and 1.6G2 a year ago. Local receipts were
M7 cars, 10 of contract grade.
Corn wiih llrm, but dull. Government crop
figures suggest a crop of l.WO.non tin. to
1.675pOO bu., and this was a bell, to the
market. Country offerings were light and
tho wheat strength was also a help. There
was a good shipping business done. Oc

Oats were fairly active and tlrm. Wheat
was of course a help, but the character
of tho support strongly suggested outside
buying. October sold between 21e and
22'sc. closing U1io higher at 22c. Re
ceipts were 127 cars.
Provisions were, rather Irregulnr. The
market advanced moderately early, but
cased off later. Tho cash demand appar
ently showed no weakening and snorts
revered the forepart of tho session. Later
packers sold and a reaction took place.
October pork sold between $ll.fi.j and $11.43
and closed a shade lower at $11 17 Ht; Octo
ber lard, between Jll.Ua and $i..S3, closing 2'5c

110011 before buyers were able to tell mue'i
about whnt wns to be on sale. It was evi

scarcity and as a result they did not huiry
nbout buying up what was In sight. Re
celpts included fully forty cars of cornfed
cuttle and tlie quality of the offering ns a
whole was very good. The market was
rather uneven nnd could bo quoted all tlie
way from steady to 10c lower In extreme
cases. Packers scorned to want tlie cattle,
but tho liberal supply gave them a chance
to take off a little.
There were not many cows on snle. and
the market was fairly nctlvo ami Just about
stenuy on nil grades, fanners moved rainy
well at cnml stroni; nrlces nnd s.d.er.s had
little difficulty in disposing ot whatever

The feeder market was well supplied In
numbers, but strictly "holce cattle wero
rather scarce. Tlie market on the better
grades was probably Just nbout st'Mdv.
but anything that wns not prime was right
around n dime tower, ituyers. however,
took hold witli considerable life and the
cattle moved over tho scales quite rapidly.
Stock cows and heifers also changed hands
nt a little lower prices than they would
Imve brought last week.
Tlie western grass cattle were again al
most entirely feeders and cow stuff. There
were not to exceed eight cars of beef cattle,
nnd ns the demand on tlie pnrl of paclfn
Is good for that class of cattle lltey changed
hands nt nbout steady prices. The -ow
stuff was also about steady, the supply
hardly being equal to the demand. The
best feetiers brought nbout steady price.',
but the moro common grades were RIPV
lower than ycstrdnv. Representative sales:
