CATTLK Uecelpts of cattle today wero
not very heavy nnd tho quality was not
particularly good, most of It being on tho
common order. Tho bulk of thn recelnts
wero made up or western steers and cows
inai were not as goou us tuoso, received
last week.
Thern were only about twenty cars of
cornfed steers on snlo ami the largo supply
of western cattle made the mnrket on fed
cattlo a little slow. Strictly choice cattle
that met the views nf the buyers were
fully steady, but the less desirable grndes
sold In some cases a trllle easy as com
pared with last Frldny. The market wits
none too active and. considering the llcht
receipts, it was rutner into netore a clear
an oo was made.
The cow market was well siinnlled. about
thirty-live cars being on sale. In some
eases thoy tried to buy tho cattle a little
lower, but ns a general thing prices were
noon l steady with last week. Tlin mnrn
uesiruhle grades nf course moved more
freely, hut. tukltiK everythlnit into eon
slderatlon. the market was In fairly good
shape. Hulls, calves and slugs sold at
usi ouout steady prices with the close of
ast week.
Stock cattle were ulsn In crnnd nunnlv nnd
1110 acmnnu wus hiso iineral. uond heavy
feeders brought good, strong prices, but
tno less deslralile crudes were In snmn

inero were anotit twenty-tlvo cars of
western cattle on sale today. Huvers nil
seemed to want that class of cattle, but, ns
ine ouniiiy was not extra, tney did not
take hold with us much life as might have
been exDected. The better crudes nf nli
kinds brought about steady prices, but,
stuff was dull and In some rases weak.
