CHICAUO. June 21. Wheat wan again ex

ing some of It on liquidation and closing
nervous, Hie over yesterday. Corn rallied
with wheat, but broke later and close!
weak, Uo lower. Oats wag excited and
closed c ud. Provisions closed steady.
Wheat nnened nervously, July at SHjM'ic,
and u rush of buying oruers sen
in n. few minutes to SIHc. This was me .
hlch mark for the day and of the recent
phenomenal rise. The gloomy siiuauu.. ...
tho northwest was practically unchanged.
Liverpool showed a good response to the
rally here yesterday. The northwest, foreign
Interests and heavy local bull It.terests were
heavy buyers anil despite realizing sales
cn a large ncale the market held around
the top for some time. Tho big udvntice ut
Minneapolis was tilso un encouragement.
The break thero later In the day was a so
largely the Inlluence which caus.id n decline
from the top hcie. An enormous trade was
done around top tlzures, but shortly betoifl
noon the demand showed signs of huyinc
been satisfied and tho pressure of long
wheat made Itself felt, July breaking to 2c.
The decline was punctuated by Irregular
rallies, but the tendency for the rest of the
session was In the main toward, a lower
level. At 82c renewed buying sent July up
to X2,eC and shortly afterwnrd the market
clocd nervous and l!4c over yesterduy nt

I'nrti was active and, arollBed by the bul
lish enthusiasm In wlunt, at one tlmu
showed a liberal advance. Shorts did it,
being frightened at the strength of tho
great brend-maklng cereal. Country offer
ings were llbrnl. When wheat broke, how
ever, corn followed post haste nnd closed at
lh bottom. July sold between 420 nnd
lO'kc. closing ',ic under yesterday at 407o.
Iteeelpts here were t75 cars.
The oats market was active and excited
most of the session. Hecausc of the vheat
strength and damai;c from the northwest
the market advanced 2c, JumpltiE up In He
leans. The decline In wheat, however,
caused a reaction, but the close was firm
at a substantial advance. July opened at
2tytf25c and sold to 2Cc, declined to 21V'
and closed c up at 2U4c. Iteeelpts here
were 2SI cars.
Provisions were dull and Irresular. Tho
market oiicned firm In sympathy with
wheat, but quickly broke away from the
cereal's savins grace and tho result was
a. decline which carried away nearly nil the

CATTLE There wns a pretty decent run
of cattle main today, so far ns numbers
were concerned, but there was a falling off
In the quality. That Is. there were not
ro many right good cnttle ns there were on
sale yesterday and the day before. Chi
cago was reported 10c lower and for that
reason buyers here stnrted out bidding
prices thnt were generally aJilOc lower.
Sellers, however, hod a pretty good opinion
of their holdings and they did not show
much disposition to make concessions.
Huyers wanted th cnttle and In order to
get them they gradually talsed their hands
Hnd bought a good many of them at steady
prices. Tho market could best be de
scribed ns steady to n little lower In spots.
Every operator on this market, whether
buyer or seller, agrees that this market is
in most excellent condition as regards the
selling Interests. Prices aro very satis
factory as compared wIMi other markets
and the trade Is In good, healthy condition.
The most of the cattle coming are enrnfed
steers and there Is not enough of anything
else to cut much figure In the market.
Cows and heifers were In moderate sup
ply and tho market on good, dry lot stuff
was fully steady. The offerings of that
kind were soon disposed of. On the other
hand, anything with a suspicion of grass Is
discriminated against and is lower even
than lust week. Bulls orv sailing qulto
readily at Just about steady prices and the
trade does not present any changes of 1m
sortance. Stockers and feeders sold at steady prices
and the trade was very much limited for
the want of that kind of cattle to sell.

HOCS-Thc market this morning opened
about where It left off yesterday, thnt Is,
with buyers bldjlnc $I.WM4.iW. , A fen- of
the early sales were on that basis and then
the market Improved a little, so that buy
ers would take them at $4.92',. They woul 1
pay $1,924 for almost anything, but It was
very hard work tu et them to put on any
innre. Iii fart Ihev would not look nt a
string that was priced above $4,924, .Tho
market was not particularly nctlve and yet
the hogs kept changing hands, so that most '
everything was disposed of In reasonably ,
good season. The popular price was $l.92'j, i
as nculn.it $l.92,.j'4.?: yesterday. In other
words, the market was a shade lower than
tho average market yederdny nnd n shade
better than the extreme close vesterdny. i
The hors sold today at the lowest point
touched since Frldny of last week, but 740 1
higher thnn on Thursday of last week. Hep
