H. Q. Hurt of the Union Pacific railroad:

viaduct at Vinton street." The agreement

roads until June, 1902, to build the viaduct
so that the commissioners aro congratulat
ing themselves on the speedy outcomo of
their plans. Tho south boulevard Is now nio'ro
than hnlf completed and It la expected that
tho thoroughfaro will bo open from River
vlow to HniiHcom park, viaduct included,
before tho end of tho present year.
Tho board received a notification from
Mayor Moorcs that the cahnon captured by
United States troops at Santiago and lent
to Omaha by the ordnance department, haa
arrived in tho city. Tho mayor asked the
board to confer with tho council relative
to tho disposition of the relic and expressed
a prefcrenco for Joffcrson square. Several
inombcrti believed that tho piece should bo
set on Capitol hill or on the Capitol avenue
