The corn market was strong nnd fairly

cotirse was upward. Country offerings
were very light. It was reported; roads very
bail for the movement ami receipts mod
crate, while a big cash business was being

the shipping demand slow. Two hundred

practically relieved today of all disturbing
factors In tho way of acute weakness of
special stoiks. Reports nil continued favorable-
regarding the outlook for values,
but the demand for stocks was almost un
nppreclable. liven the small buying for In
vestment, based on large enrnlngs of rail
roads, which has been In evidence for some
time past, dropped out of sight today.
Speculators are refraining entirely, from
commitments for the advance. On the other
hand the bear operators of any consid
erable caliber seemed to become discour
aged by the futility of their efforts and the
culmination of events counted upon for a
reaction. They made some demonstration
against People's (las, Consolidated Has and
.Metropolitan Street Railway, but no cited
was produced on the general market. The
room traders labored In vain to set the
