CATTLE There -nas a ttnlr run of cattle
for the middle of the week and while ihere
were a goo < i rmxny common rangers there
was also quite a sprinkling of good beef
Bteers
%
Corn-fed cattle were In good demand and
sold readily at prices that were a little
stronger. Considering the kind of cattle
there has probably < been no time this sea
son when they would have brought any
moro money than they did today. Grass
beef also brought good strong prices
Cows and heifers were In demand at
prices that were lirm us compared with
jesterday and the. most or the offerings
were taken In good season. It Is safe to
quote the cow market ai 5SjlOo ( higher than
last week.
Good heavy feeding cattle , of which there
were very few. were In active demand and
the market was Btrong on that kind. The
offerings of such cattle as would answer
that description were nil taken In good
season , and It Is safe to quote them lOflfflta
higher than the low day last week On the
othe.r hand the medium and common kinds
of cattle and jearlings were neglected and
the market on them was both slow and
lower. Holders of v earllngs , even those
that were good , found It no easy matter to
even get a bid , speculators as a rule claim
ing that they were filled up on that kind
and did not have room for any more. Rep

SHEEP Record-breaking runs at ea tern
markets and Iirgc receipts nt all western
mirkcts has somewhat demor.il'zed ' the
market on sheep and lambs. At this point
the receipts h.ive been none too large to
supply the demands of local packers and
for that reason sellers have been able to
hold up prices here , until there has not
been much difference between this market
and Chlcigo. The very fact , however , th.it
the muiket at this point Is out of line
caused bujers to hold bac.k and the mar
ket this morning was -very slownnd dull ,
besides being lower. Stufr th-it just hap
pened to suit bttjers sold prettv well in
some cases close to steady. In other oases
It was considerably lower. It Is bafe lo
f > .iy that the market for the week Is fully
15c lower and in extreme cases as much as
25c lower ,
The feeder market Is also -very slow and
weak , and though there was a good supply
from which to mnku selections , bujcrs did
not take hold at all freely and It was late
before vorv much was accomplished.
