The crew of the Samarkand ate Hying fish
until fishbones fairly stuck out of their cars ,
and when they got to South Brooklyn they
lumped several barrelfuls of living ones into

Likewise , they 'brought along a fish story
hat would make a fresh water fisherman's
diary look like a leaf from the gospel.

dead ones wore cleaned and salted away and
the live ones covered with aalt water and
placed along under the shadow of the bul
warks for future reference. After this the
crew had flsh fried , broiled , celled , baked
and smothered.

were saved for emergency and some of these
