Only a few cornfed cattle were offered , as will be noted from the sales 'below. ' The market on dry lot cattle vvat > good and steady nnd active and practically everj- thlng that would answer to that description changed hands at an early hour In the nornlng. Western beef cattle were In liberal sup ply , there being several quite sizable strings In the ynrda It was a little late before the cattle were ready to show , but buyers seamed to want them. However , when the market opened It was rather slow and in Bomo casts , at least , sellers were calling It lower. The Swan cattle brought the same price as last week , $4 65 for the best , but the quaHty was a little better today. The Texas cattle sold way lower tod.iy , but they were not as good ae they were yester day. In regard to Texas cattle buyers claim that they nave been pajlrg too much for that kind of cattle at this point and that they are landing cattle here , from Kansas City way cheaper than the cattle have been costing them In these jards. The supply of cows nnd heifers was the largest that It has been In a long time and consisted almost entirely of westerns. The trade was fairly active on that kind of stuff and prices steady. The prices paid for the westerns generally looked high and were entirely satisfactory to owners. Bulls , stags , etc , sold In about the same notches as jestordoy. Some nretty good veal calves are selling at JO , the market easing off on veils Bujers of etockers and feeders were out early looking for the cattle and the market on that kind of stock was active nnd llrm. Speculators were tTie principal bujurs nnd it did not take them very long to pick up the bulk of the offerings. The feeling on that class of cattle Is strong owing to the most flattering crop reports received from the country , which are Interpreted to mean that there will bo a large buying demand for feeders nnd stock cattle a little later on.
