ST. LOUIS , June 20. H Is announced
that as Governor Stephens has signed the
street railway bill the negotiations for a
general consolidation of all the street rail
roads of St. Louis , which have been In
progress for some time , are now practically
completed nnd a successful consummation
Is only a matter of a few dayn. The deal
Involves nearly $100,000,000 In all nnd Is the
second largest street railway consolidation
scheme ever undertaken. Brown Brothers
of New York arc at the head of It.
AVlthout the Suburban , which has not yet
como Into the combine , the Consolidated
company will have 293 miles of Ingle track ,
and. Including the Suburban and uew track
to bo constructed , they would liavo nearly
400 miles , forming the most comprehensive
system of street railroads In the world.
The new system will Include the following
lines ; Llndoll railway Bystem , Missouri ,
Taylor nvonuo , Jefferson avenue , Grand ave
nue , Union depot , Southern Electric , Baden
and St. Louis , Broadway cable , Cans avenue
and Fair Grounds , Citizens' Union , Forest
Park nnd Laclcdo avenue , Mound City ,
Northern Central , People's , St. Louis &
Suburban and tlio St. Louis & Meramec
River , as well as the franchises of the SI.
Louis Traction company.
All lines will run over loops In the down
town district , nnd , aa nearly nil practicable ,
each will reach all the principal points of In
tercut In the central portion of the city.
Over $5,000,000 will bo expended In Im

cidentally kicked Pratt. Angry words fol

Pratt died almost Instantly , but Raines , who

practice vessel Chesapeake was launched to
day from the Batb Iron works yard. It was
