Nov. 7.-Thn day's stock market undoubtedly reflected the conviction of operators In securities , that with elec tion uncertainties out of the way the strong condition * of the country Industries .and business will have- their tffecls and prlceu will advance. The evidence was rather on the sldn of covering of shorts. Trading proceeded In n very desultory manner during the early hours of the day , although the selling for foreign account , which was fairly liberal , was well uh&urhcd nnd prices ol the International stncks were firmly sustained. Southern Railway pre ferred wits n conspicuous example. Hut as the day wore on , Ihe market gained both In activity and strength and embraced an Increasing lint of stocks. The ronteinplii- tlon ot the very heavy volutno ot bank exchanges and the enormously Increased huslnchs In ciri-alu had IhPlr effect In the bullish tendency , ( is did th" continued favorabl" report of railroad earnings , espi'- chilly from the west nnd north. 'ihere was quite a sprinkling of nil kinds of cattle , but not much loppy stuff of any kind. Thti market as a whole did not show any radical change. Th re were a few loads of pretty fair corn-fed steers on sale and other * that were not so good. The market on handy light and medium weight cattle , such as are es pecially In good demand at present time was fully steady or even strong. At the same tlmo rough or coarse westerns were slow as not being the kind that buyers are most eager after. Some very fat yearling white faces and shorthorns brought $5.10 and other cattle that were fair went at $4.X ! > . A week ago Saturday some yearling * , mates to those sold today , wnt at $1.76. Grass steers did not show much change. COWH and heifers were In moderate sup ply and sold at practically steady prices , th ? most deslrnblo being strong. About ev erything of any account sold early. Vfal calves were In demand at steady prices , good veals selling at J0.75t7.00. Quite u good muny stockers ami feeders were In the yards and the general feeling was hotter In that there were very few holdover * , about everything having been cleaned up at the clos > of last week. Hold ers who happened to have something espe cially desirable , that just happened to please a buyer , reported the mnrkel ns stronger. At the same time the general run of salesmen who did not happen to be for tunate in having something attractive re ported the trade as slow at no more than steady prices. Regular yard buyers were looking for a largo run for a Tuordny , with a light attendance of country buyers until after election , and were not disposed to raise the market If they could avoid It.
