Condition of Corn Ooiiil.
CHICAGO , Aug. 27. The Corn Belt , Is
sued by the Chicago. Burlington & Qulncy
railway , will tomorrow say of the crop In
the western states : Nebraska Is threshing
out finally , about the lowest yield being
twelve bushels to the aero and the highest
thirty bushels , winter and spring running
about nllko on account of the very favorable
early weather for the latter. There toavo
been rumors of hot winds injuring the corn.
There proves to bo llttlo or nothing In
these reports. Corn Is In fine condition In
the western part and the far eastern part
of the state. Between Hastings and Lincoln
on the Burlington route It docs not look so
well. Corn has lacked efficient cultivation on
account of the early wet weather at a tlrao
when the work was most needed to keep
down the weeds. Of a number of reports
from fifty-six counties , two say the prospect
Is excellent for corn ; fifty-eight that It IB
good ; 102 fair and seventy-nine poor anil
ono declares the crop a failure.
Iowa Of 100 reports from thirty counties ,
eleven say the condition of the corn crop
Is excellent , sixty that it Is good , eighteen
fair and ono poor. As to winter wheat ,
thirty-eight reports say the quality IB good
to excellent , twenty-live that It Is fair nnd
four poof ; and' as to spring wheat , thlrty-
elsht say good to excellent , twenty-seven
good , seventeen fair and three poor.
Northern Kansas Of twenty reports from
seven counties , one-half say the present con
dition of corn is good , one-fourth fair and
the others that the prospect Is poor.
Northern Missouri Of 100 reports from
twenty-thrco counties thirty-five say the
present condition of corn is good to excel
lent , twenty-seven fair , twenty that It Is
better than last year , nine that It is the
same and twenty-six that it Is worse. A
largo majority of the reports agree In say
ing that the crop Is later in maturing this
year because of wet weather for planting
time. As to winter wheat , twenty-three re
ports eay the quality Is good to rxcelieut
and twenty-one that it Is poor.
