The slightly easier feeling with which trading commenced was In part due. to ti crop report of Thoman's that made the acrejge planted with winter wheat 11.1 per cent larger than the area harvested last season , I'.ibor re ported the condition now S7 , agiilnst 81.1 December 1 last , nnd estimated the quanllly In farmers' Inind.H nt 210,000,0)0 bu. . or 41..11 ] > or cent of Inxt yem's crop , atid that there Is avalluble itir export In the. next six. months lOO.OOO.ooo bu. Liverpool was about Hd lower to begin with and dropped another V d Liter In thn session. The llrst thing Uo bulls got any additional comfort from was the sale by Ar mour & Co. of 10,000 bu. No. 2 spring wheat for export at once by rail , hence to the sea board , ami a rumored p-ile of a further 32.- 000 hit T.TO price was said to boUAc below tin- May price. New York confirmed the taking for export yesterday cf hi boatloads , 4M.OOO bit. theie , and ITfi.MM bu. at outports. The export clearances from Atlantic ports were again liberal , amounting In wheat and Hour to f.CO.OW Im. That was a sustaining factor but when about two hours of the session l.ad none and the foreign markets wens found to have closed weak , confidence began to desert the early buyers and they became more anxious to tivold a loss during the following half hour than they had been before to secure n profit , Liverpool closed Sid lower for the day ; Paris at a decline of from Me to 15e In Hour and lOc In .when * , while Antwerp. In addition to a drop of ] 2"c for red American thp day before , re ported a further decline of a like extent for today for both red winter and while Call- fornlan Those features of the midday news caused a lire/ik to IWic for May shortly after their receipt. Keller's agents were quilt ; active sellers on the decline and the bull crowd was apparently playing for a break. Nevertheless , It had. the effect of keeping the smaller fry out , and after those who had bought In the morning had Haul- dated at a loss there was little trade of con sequence be l les the Loiter transactions , the local crowd evidently being afr.ild of being caught A short time before the close May teacted to 01c , which proved the llnal Corn' was very quiet and price changes extremely narrow. As has been the case right along , the de mand was principally for tidy little cattle , which sold ut about yesterday's prices. Un fortunately there worn few callle of that description , a considerable proportion of the offerings consisting of heavy cattle , which were slow and lower , though they closed up about steady. The demand for big cattle. Is extremely light and old-timers on the. mar ket have been heard to remark that they could remember few occasions nvhen they were as low sale as ut the- present lime. Cows and heifers were In moderate supply and the market was not much changed from yesterday. LJuyers claimed that they paid strong prices for desirable stulf. Stockers and feeders were In active de- irnnd , but the supply was limited , with the result that the available cattle commanded stronger prices , without regard to the con dition of the fit cattle market.
