That was said to break all previous records for one dny'H e.\poit from the Atlanticseaboard. . Uulte n scramble by shouts took place after the posting of these llRtires , winlch reslilteil In sending the price of Mny ui to 91U.SJ1VH' ! . nnd Occemlicr to OGUo. That temporarily shook the llrmnp s , and the pi Ice of Mny re ceded to S0c. Tln shorts hail , however , been HO severely Jolted by the rise to fll' fiOUic that they were rendered timid by this time and It took only a show of buy- lnij to rush the price once mole to OUJc. Thu primary market receipts were three times hiavler than on tne corresponding day of the year before , the total amount- Inn to 1,133,1(4 bushels today , aR.ilnst only K3,0 ) bushels a year t\fo , but the bulk of the day's receipts was nt Minneapolis nnd Uuluth. The contract stock at Chicago In creased MO.OfO bushels for the week , mak ing the total 2,530.000 bushels. The market toward t.ne close was quiet , but llrm , M.ay winding up at Ol'.xc. Decem ber , however , was not imlte so buoyant , closing nt KrJic. Corn took Its cue from wheat , starting weak and declining us long as wheat did , nnd when the latter murVet changed from weakness to strength , corn did the same. The day's movement of corn favored hold ers , but this fact wns disregarded until wheat rallied. The principal part of the day's trading was changing December deals over to May , tlhough I here was some liquidation of December without any re purchasing of May. 1'rlce changes were very narrow. Receipts wtre C41 cars , much below estimates. Atlantic clearances were (95,001) ( bushels. M.iy ranged from SD frSSVic to IDc. and closed unchanged at 'J0'ic. There wns very little to the oats market except changing at 1V&14C spread. I ongs sold December , und there was moderate commission house buying of Mny which made that delivery relatively tlrmer than the nearer one , Tne action of wheat had some Influence. Itecelpts were posted nt fii7 ! cars. Seaboard clearances were 783.000 bushels. May rnngcd from 22 4c to 21Tic , closlnp WjVc higher at Z''Vc. With the exception of a short time aft r the opening , provisions were lirm. Heavy receipts of hogs here and at western points caused some hesitation eaerly. John Cud- nby was a good buyer through brokers , nresumably covering short lines , nnd this buying was responsible for the slight ad vances In January products which marked the close. December products were easier , resulting on a slight widening of the spread. At the close January pork was li'tc ' higher at JS.20 ; January lard was n shade higher nt $4.22Vi > 1J4.25 ; and January ribs W-c higher nt J4.CO. The offerings of corn fed beeves were quite sizeable nnd Included some pretty good cat tle. Local ipackers were free buyers and the market was reasonably active , with val ues strong. The great bulk of the cattle changed hands early In the morning. One piece of a load of choice fat Polled sold up to J4.90 , the bestl price paid on this market In some little time , Cows nnd heifers were In fair supply and good demand , so that nn early clearance was effected. T.ie prices paid were strong as compared with yesterday. Quite a good many stock cattle and feeders weru on sale , but there was considerable ; inquiry for such cattle from the country , which , served to stimulate speculative buy- Ing.
