After ruling steady nil inoinlnfi wheat turned wc.tlc und closed ( it declines of % ifHie for December and l ll/4c for May. A , largo visible Increase and dis appointment of the export business , which wan reported very lartjo curly In the scs- Riot/ , were In the main responsible for the aellliiK and consequent decline. I'rovtalona closed a Rhado lower. Oats alone of all the murkutn wns linn and advanced Uflc. Tradurs In.h.nt hnd evidently not forgot , ten B'iow'8 report on the winter wheat con. dltlon which was given out yesterday. An advance of W o at Liverpool before tradIng - Ing commenced here was probably due In large purl to the threatened winter wheat disaster. December , which stopped at Me yesterday , was wanted at the opening at from MViti to &CT4C , und Sliiy , the previous duy'a closing price of which was 'MWa US-He. found buyers at from 9IM > e to SMHe. Now Vork telegrams reported liberal accept ances both from the United Kingdom and continent of offers cabled the night before. One llrm had buying orders at the opening from I'arls and Antwerp for about 3WWM buxhcls of May whc.it. A falling off In northwest receipts was a factor. Chicago received 123 cars. Minneapolis and Utilutn letiortcd SIS cars ; lust week 7GG were re ceived. Receipts for two days last year , ono n holiday , were 2tWT cars. Seaboard clearances wuro equal In wheat and Hour to 5i7.0W bushels. Spot wheat In Liverpool WIIH linn , lid higher. lradslrcet' ! report of the world's visibly made tlio Increase In this country cast of the Heckles -1,103,000 bushels and In Kuropo and nlloat an Increase of 2- 200,000 bushels , or 0,303,000 bOshels In all. The market up to the time of the receipt of UrmlHtroet'a had lluctuatrd over a com paratively narrow range , . December selling aa high as 90TAc , and as low as 96V o , but It turned very weak on receipt of lirnd- streut's report , llnally getting Into a state of utter collapse. Kurly liv the day It was claimed In a loose way that l.WO.WJ bushels lnu'l been sold at New York and outports for early forcljni Shipment , but later that wim known to be a grosa exaggeration , the actual sales being not to exceed forty boat loads , or Ii20GCO bushcla. Even that was Bald to Include the fourteen loads reported thu day before. A private cablegram from 1'arla , reporting resellers of American wheat at DC lower than It was now being offered for here , was probably what In duced Home of the unloading- long wheat that started the last break. December sold as low as S.'iVltU , and closed at ! )5V4 ) < i(9oo. ( May declined to ! )2Vlc ) , and was bringing Ii2vtc at the close. Corn was very slow. The market was fairly firm whlln wheat kept above yester day's prices , but when that market de clined corn did off with an ease that was somewhat surprising. Light receipts , 2GS oi < , r3 , had sonio ulluonce on the llrm open- Ing' Thorn was considerable December for sale and a slight widening of the Decem ber-May spread resulted. Shipping demand wns rather poor. Cables were ' /id higher. December ranged from 2GT c toGUc and closed ' / < .c lower at 2GUc. Oats weru stronger than anything- the floor and a good trade was done. The buyIng - Ing was quite fioneral , and excellent cash demand , heavy seaboard clearances. 902,000 bushels for two days , and small receipts , 1H ! ! < Mirs , all helped to create a llrm market. The market fell back a little later In the day , but the closing was strong at an ad vance. December ranged from 194c to lUVic , closing -TiiC higher at 19&C. Provisions were steady during the early morning. The yellow fever situation was Improved by frosts. Packers , however , gave the market no support and prices gradually weakened , although no material decline ensued. Trade was excessively dull. . Heavy 1'rlroN and n Dull Market < Iic Day's Condition * . NEW YORK , Nov. 3. Heavy prices nnd n dull market were the conditions of the Slock ex change during the greater part of the day , but In the later denllnK * amore nctlve liquidation set In and trading became more animated than nt nny time previously , prices falling lo the lowest of the day nnd remaining there prac tically till the close. Thei low point represented net declines running nil the way from a point to SW points , the latter In Sugar. A great many prominent stocks have lost over 2 points on the day , several of the grangers nnd the coalers being conspicuous In the list. The prices for American securities quoted In the Ixjndon mar ket at the time of the opening here showed sharp declines nnd the later reports showed that the result of the elections had nroused considerable unfavorable sentiment among security holders abroad. This market took Us cue from London nnd the opening showed declines rather In ex- oess of some of those reported from nbrond. There wns pome buying In this market nt the lower level for London account , but this prob- nbly represented arbitrage operations to cover sales made In London early In the day. It had the effect , however , of steadying prices. A sensational Jump of 13 points In Consolidated Gas nnd gains of 2U per cent In Manhattan and of the same amount In Metropolitan Street Rail way nlso served to check nny declining ten * ilency. The most Important feature , however - over , connected with the day's receipts wns the large Increase In the proportion of killIng - Ing cattle. There were more cornfoci steers on sale than for a long1 time and at the same tlmo the quality was reasonably good on an . \yerage that Is , there were quite a good many desirable cattle. The large offerings , however , were decidedly against the best Interests of sellers , as It gave buyers the opportunity desired to pound the market. The necessities of the buyers in the face of the light receipts of 'the past few days have compelled them to pav pretty stiff prices and today they had a cimncc to even up. The result iwas a very dull market , ranging all the way from weak to lOc lower. Cows and heifers -were not In very largo supply and the trade nvas reasonably active at steady prices. The fresh receipts of feeders were again large and In addition there were a good many In the hands Of speculators. The. de mand for desirable light feeders was good and the market on such was just about steady. Common and rough kinds were not very brisk sellers and the tendency of the market -was lower on them.
