Wheat In getting close lo the dollar mark ngaln. December closed today at 96' ' c , nn advance ot 2140 since Saturday. Strong cables and n heavy ex port bufilnu.is started the market strong and kept It In that condition. Corn scored a Ic advance , notwithstanding enormous receipts mid denial ) ) of damage reports. Oats shared In the proivicrUy to the extent of a vie ad vance. Provisions were nnTectfil somewhat by the yellow fever scare , but at the close showed only n lOc decline1 In pork und 2'iu ' In ribs , while lard advanced 6c. The Liverpool wheat market had advanced' before trading commenced here the equiva lent''of l't c per bushel over the price U closed on Saturday last , 2c of that rise hav ing occurred yesterday. Paris was also quoted 3o per bushel higher since Saturday. In sympathy with the strength abroad an advance of about 2c Inaugurated the day's here. December started at from to ! i.Vic ! , compared with Saturday's iK.price . of O-Bic. Hut local speculators who held long wheat over from the end of the week before sels-ed the opportunity of reaping so material n pront ana their offer ings caused the market to show a sagging tt-ndoncy most of the forenoon. December declining to 9l',4c before any material rally occurred. The trade Miitlstlcs ot last week's Jrovemunt , of wheat In the direction of con- miming coiintrlc.t were somewhat of a ilr.ig lo the market. The ceX a shipments of wheat and Hour from nil sources lo the Im- lioi'tlng countries ot Kurojie were 9,812 UOO liuMirlH , against 7,4. > 4,000 bushels the week before anil .7,013.000 bushels thn corre.ipoiul- Ing week of 1890. The quantity on orcan imsi-agp was thereby Increased 2,000CtK > bushels. Iti-celpts of wheat at Chicago filnco Saturday morning were LOSS cars , but out of that number thirty-five only came up to' this contract standard. The quantity Khlpped from here since Saturday morning was disproportionately small , compared to receipts of 143.000 bushels , comprising the total. Minneapolis and Duluth reported JSi0 ; carloads received , compared with 2,312 for the three corresponding dayo of the pre vious year. Atlantic port clearances of Wheat and Hour since Saturday were equal to 1,153,000 bushels. The visible supply de creased G5G.OOO bus.icls ; the total Is 14,817,000 lUFhels. A year ago the corresponding week showed Wl.OiKi bufhelo Inrrenso. and the total was 47.4KVXX ) bushels. Closing cables did Jiot vary very milch from those reporting tli ( opening quotations. It wart dllllcult to pet Information regarding the precise num ber of boatloads sold for export at New York and elsewhere , but It was very evident from what could bo learned that I.OOU.OOO bushels or more lind been disposed of. That .was the reason why the market after Its reactionary disposition In Hi foienoon be come once more very strong and was bring ing % ! ic for December about fifteen minutes from the close. T.io final trading price was OCU.C. Trade In corn was active and much more general than In wheat. Strong cables and very general damage reports from drouth Started the minket very firm , but the enor mous receipts and visible Increase , coupled with some emphatic denials of any material ( l.'imago to the crap , caused an easier feeling to prevail for some time. The bullishness of wheat In tin1 last hour , however , started rent-wed buying and closing prices were About the highest of the day. Receipts Ulnce Saturday were 3 , . ° . ( i7 cars. Of the cattle h'ro , twenty-live loadrt wore consigned direct to p.itrfers , leaving a few leys than 2CO cars on sale. Of more Importance , however , than the change In numbers was the change in qual ity , which was considerably improved over yesterday. There were more and better corn-fed steers heie today and the m.irk t on such was fully steady. Under the In fluence of the good demand the offerings of corn cattle were hot' long In changing hands and at prices that rariged all the way fron J4.CO to J4.DO , but mostly from $ I.G3 up. The demand Wfis also good for western cattle fat enough for killers , but the most of tnose here were suitable for feeders only Values were not materially changed from yesterday's mark.- . , There > -vas a heavy falling off In 'the offer ings of butchers' stock , only fifteen to clKhlPtn lomta of cuvw > being offered on the market , or less than 'half ' the number hero ycsUnlay. The tlem.'iml for that kind of cattle was good , at steady prices and an t'liriv fieara'ire wait ctfcctod. The chief Internst In the day's operations centered In the feeder division , as the cattle were the most nujneroita In that department. With so many cattle on .sale , It was only natural that buyers should feel a little tlti'ld and at the opening the market looked a little wehk. 'It did not remain long In that condition , the country demand b- ing of sulliclent proportions to restore eon- liduh.ce and to hold values Up to yester- ' day's standard. One bunch of black cattle sold to a feeder at $4.43. The market on feeders n a whole was In a very healthy condition und fairly active. Representative 35 feeder . . . .1040 3 Wu ) .1. nn'l W. C.
