CATTLE Ileeelpts of cattle were the
largest of the week to date nnd the largest
of any day since March 23. The receipts
have been so lleht for some days back that
packers have not been Betting cattle
enough and they have been compelled to
ship In from othur markets , fourteen loads
coming from Kansas City today billed to
local packing houses ,
A considerable mimy of the cattle re
ceived today were western feeders , so that
the supply of dcplrable beef steers was far
from being large. Both packers and ship
pers were early In the saddle and the mar
ket on desirable pornfcd c.ittle opened quite
briskly and at steady to strong prices.
The most ot the cattle sold early. Ad
vices from Chldigo' Wen- far from reassur
ing and under that jlnlluencu thu market
eased off n little , toward the last and the
close was not quite so stroiur.
Hjitchers' stock was not in very large
supply for the -number of cattle In thu
yards , only about itii.dozen . loads of cows
and heifers beliiB.on snip. The mnrjtct wns
active and the offerings all changed hands
early at fully sltad ? prices. Some little
heifers sold ns high as $1.10. '
Stockers and fee'd ra were In largo supply ,
a considerable propdrtion of the receipts
bslng made up of western feeders. The
demand wns of largfc proportions and the
pens were clearejl early , the market being
just about steady. Representative Bales :
