PLEASANT DANCING PARTY FOR MISS HOW Heavy Fall uf Snow mnl I.mv Teiniii aluro Knrly In the \VroU Iti-NpoiiNl blc fur .Many SlclKliliiK m l SKat- Iiit ; Turtle * Other The exceedingly variable weather of the past week has been decidedly unfavorable to social exertion , as the record of events will iiot fall to show. Variable la a good word to apply to the- climatic conditions in one rcopect , fop the weather has exhibited almost every phase of unpleasantness. The heavy snow storm of the early days was re- Bponalblo for a number of sleighing parties , which were enjoyed by those who took part In them as no other sport can be enjoyed. Hut the fog and the thaw came back almost Immediately , and since they recommenced their awful work thu streets of Omaha huvo been In a condition better Imagined than described. Such weather takes hair out of curl and has a tendency to wilt down col lars. It Is altogether and entirely beastly , not to put too flue a point on It , and eo- clcty , aa well as all things clue , will rejoice when there Is an end of It. Winter can get quite general permission to linger for nny reasonable time In tbo lap ot spring , It ho will only show himself once more In his famllliir , severe but kindly guise of tmow and Ice and low temperature. la epltu of these untoward conditions , the week has not been entirely devoid of social attractions. The dancing party given by Mrs. Jamco Henry Mclntosh on Friday night In honor of Miss How , the charming young woman who has been visiting Miss Hoagland of late and Is at present Mrs. Me- Intosh'a guest , was one ot the prettiest and most enjoyable occasions of a season which lias Included a great many occasions to which those- adjectives might with propriety bo applied. A considerable , though a com paratively small , number ot smaller happen ings liavo occurred. Next week gives promise of an Increased activity. The Monday Is'lght club party , to bo given tomorrow night , will bo the first of the flccond scries of the dances of thta club , and from present Indications bids fair to ccllpso In brilliancy Its predecessors. This organization maintains the reputation gained at the beginning of the season fern n success uncqualcd by any Omaha social club of recent years. Plans are now ma- turlng which are expected to result In giv ing to the February party a colonial aspect , which would surely add Interest to the oc casion. IMp. n i id Mr * .
