CATTLK Toduy'H cattle run wan slightly
above yesterday's record , but smaller than
a week ago by about ICO head. Of the
number reported In , 5S6 head were con
signed direct to packers , leaving barely
2,400 on sale. The proportion of cornted
cattle was much lan-er than usual.
A Rood many of tlio fat cattle on sale
were shortfcil HtulT , and while there were
some nrctty decent cuttle , there wus not u
single bunch of what would bu considered
real prime cornfed steara. The moat of the
cattle were such as are selling at J3.701fl.00.
Tlio market on fat cattle was slow and
druggy , and It was late before a clearance
was effected.
In butchers * stock there was more ac
tivity , and the moat of the cows and heif
ers sold In good season at prices that were
fully steady and In some cases strong.
Among the offerings there was one bunch
of cornfed heifers that was better than
anything seen here before this season ,
which brought 1.3. , . The stocker and
feeder trade wan also fairly active at good ,
steady prices. The country demand has
been of good proportions this week , and
supplies have been kept well cleaned up , so
that regular operators were In a position
to buy freely this morning and the olferlngs
for the most part changed hands In good
Heprcucntatlvc sales :
