CATTLK The run of cattle wan light to
day , especially BO In comparison with the
liberal receipts of yesterday. The most of
the cattle were from the ranges nnd only
suitable for feeders.
Killing cattle of all kinds were scarce and
In good demand. There were no cornfcd
steers to amount to anything , one bunch
bringing $3.50 and another S3.93. Hango
catt'o that would do for the dressed beef
trade were also scarce. The market was
just about steady , with no quotable change.
Cows and heifers were In moderate up-
ply , only about ten loads being offered for
sale. The market on that kind of stock
was also Just about steady.
Stockers and feeders were In good de
mand and sold freely at firm prices , and
the cattle In first hands sold In good sea
son. There were quite a good many buy
ers In from the country and for the num
ber of cattle on hand business In the feeder
division was quite lively.

HOOS The receipts of hogs. n > well as of
cattle , were light , the run being the smallest
since Monday. The market was In very satis
factory condition , the demand being brisk and
values fully Sc hlKlier than yesterday. Under
the Influence of the Rood demand , coupled with
the moderate offerings , the market was active
and tint pens were soon cleared. Chicago re
ported a lower clone , but not until all the hoKS
were sold at this point , so that the market here
wnn In nowise Influenced by the break there.
There were no lljdit hogs among- the offerings
and very few even that could be called medium
weights. The heavy loads , averaging 200 pounds
and above , sold largely nt J3.10S3.15 , an aitalnut
SJ.05i3.10 yesterday. The medium weight mixed
loads sold at I3.20JT3.25 , but there WUH not
single light load In the yurds to put a top on
tinmarket. .
Today's advance carries the market back to
about where It was nt the beginning of the
week. Representative sales ; .
BIIKHI' There were only two loads of sheep In
ig yards iiiul they met with ready sale. The
mrket could safely be quoted lOc higher , with
10 demand good for all dtilrublu kinds , lleprc-
entutlva tales ;

RICHARD A. McCURDY , President ,
Who will pay that mortgage
on your home if you die before
it's lifted ?
A life insurance policy will
do it , and the cost to you is
only the annual premium paid
to the company. It is like pay
ing a little extra interest on
your mortgage to insure its re
lease if you die.
The resources of the Mutual
Life of New York exceed the
combined capital of all the na

A duty delayed is a duty
