The price of December had \inmeroiiM lluc-

CATTLE The receipts today were. 3 P3
head , as against 4.3S3 head yesterday and
4,250 head on Tuesday of last week. The
market , as a whole was dull and unlntercBt-
Ing , and far from satisfactory to the sellIng -
Ing Interests , The market might'bo des
cribed as Just the opposite of what It was
last week , when V.IIUI-H had an upward
tendency and the demand was active.
Uuyers complained that the most of the
western cattle on sale were rather common.
The feeder market being slow , sellers had
sorted up pretty closely and a good many
cattle wcro offered to tlio killers today
that would have gone In as feeders last
\vtek. Itcports from other markets were
not calculated to stimulate free buying , and
the consequence was that the buvers were
very Indifferent and bearish. The whole
tendency of the market was lower and the
trade was a drag from start to nnlsh.
Good cows and heifers commanded about
steady prices , ami were the best selling
cattle In the yards , the offerings being
cleaned up In good season. Common cows
and heifers were not such free sellers , and
the market on thixt kind was easier.
Stockers and feeders were also slow and
the trade was without that snap and anima
tion that characterized It all last week.
The buyers apparently wanted the cattle ,
but they wanted them lower , and If they
could not pet them that way they seemed
to prefer leaving them alone. Representa
tive sales :
