THE OMAIIA DAILY 313 : A AT tTK DAY , JtAllOII SM , 180G. COMMERCIAL AND FINANCIAL Wheat Started Business with a Blight De cline , CORN FELT THE WEATHER INFLUENCE There \Vntt n. I'nlr IttKlitcnM Trnnn- nclnl In OnlM , I'rloFN HtilliiK In N > inputliy ivlth \Vlient n n il Ciiru. CHICAGO , March 20 Wheat started Nvlth a ilccllno of from > ,4o to Hd nndwound up at a net decline of V4o nftcr nn Inter mediate break of nbotit lo per bu. Kluctua- tlons were almost entirely attributed to ncalpcrs" manlpulntlons. Corn nnd oaf ? were both heavy and lost Vic cncli. I'ro- \lBlon * ftuod better nnd closed unclinnRed. In wheat there was a Rood trnde , the market at times ruling qulto active , the range bclnR % c. The tone developed was a continuation of that prevalent at the close yesterday and still lower prices weie ncorod , though the close showed little change. May opened heavy , with sellers at from C2',4c to Clo. against G2V4flr,2c at the close yesterday. For about three-quar ters of an hour no further break occurred , but meantime the buying Induced by the nbovo decline began to slacken and when New York reported that wheat had cleared from there yesterday the big shoit sellers poured their contents Into the pit. The price on that had a quick break from uround C2o to ai tci The decline at the opening was again occasioned In a largu degree by the heavy receipts at Minneap olis and Duluth , which numbered B cars , ngalnst 300 a week ago and 200 on the cor- icspondlng day of the year before. No attention whatever was paid to the steadi ness of the Liverpool market In the face of the lo break here yesterday. That wa-i perhaps offset In the estimation of the traders by the mild character of the cold wave , which had bqen predicted for the Winter wheat country today and the probability - ability of a mild , springlike temperature for the next thirty-six hours The shorts ap peared satisfied with the break to ( H ic and commenced to collect their tribute from the market , which arose again to C2c under the operation , reaching that point at 12 o'clock. It was calculated that the visible Dimply on Monday will be found to have ilecreased GOO.OOO bu. at least. That and rcportB of good export engagements at the seaboard helped along the Inclination to cover , and during the last hour May touched C2Uc , but cosed off a trlllo. closing Bteady at from GlUc to GUJc bid. Corn felt the influence of the prevailing mild weather and ruled weak all day. though the decline was slight. May opened about HO lower at from IIl'/Jc to 29HC. and sold to M'/ic. rallied with wheat nnd closed easy at 2)J ) c. Trading was only fairly flCtlVG There was n fair business transacted In oats , prices ruling heavy In sympathy with wheat ami corn. May opened ' 4c lower at 20Wo nnd sold off to from 19c to 20c , closing at that price. Provisions opened unchanged , though nn easy feeling prevailed , owing to the weak live stock prices. Considerable liquidation was Indulged In soon after the opening nnd prices broke sharply , but on the re duction the packers bought and the mar ket stiffened up again , closing prices showIng - Ing no change. May pork closed at J315 , May lard nt $330 and May ribs at $4 92V4. _ The estimates for Saturday are : Wheat , * 18 cars ; corn , 600 cars ; oats , 2G2 cars ; hoes. 15,000 head. .
