Only 8S3 bend wcro reported In Iho ynrds , an ngnlnst 2,131 yes- terdny nnd 1.S92 on Wednesday ot Inst week. The sharp brenk of the two days pnt no doubt contributed lamely toward the reduc tion In the receipts. Today's receipts were made up llirpu'.y of Ulllln ? cattle , n considerable portion con- elating of cornfcd steers. In spite of the foct thnt the market ycstcntny touched the lowest point of Iho uenFon , It did not room possible to stny the downward tendency of values on fat steers. Chicago nnd Kansas City both reported liberal receipts niul sio\v or lower markets , whlr.a made ill" fooling v/onk at this point. The rapid decline In the market Is apparently having Itu effect upon the receipts. The country Is too bullish to tell many hogs at IPH than J4.00 , and It Is evident that growers prefer to hold their hogs awhile longer before s-lllnir them nt J3.SO In Omaha. On Friday of last week the hoes brought In this market $3.W410 nnd the clpts Increased - creased with the le.ult that prices declined rapidly , both hero and nt other maikets. Today the effect of the decline was plainly \lslble In the diminished urn here. At other points the receipts were large and the markets lower. With only n few hogs here nnd with the buyers nil wanting some , the market nd > nncod In tin- face of the decline nt other points. While not passing an opinion on the alleged Insanity of Walker , Mr. Orton pays that the people of Dawson county and Its vicinity appear to bo afraid of the man. Mr. Orton said that Mra. Stevens , on the contrary , had appeared to make light of Walker's threat. C. R Stringer callel on Governor Holcomb today. Ho was formerly- Inmate of the Norfolk Hospital for the Insane.
