The weddings which \\ere celebrated In Omaha hut week were numerous , as will bo observed by scanning the society page of thlo paper. Ot course , the wedding whereby Mls < Grclghtoti and lr. ) Allison rrcro united In marriage was conducted upon a larger scale than some others , yet It was no moro Interesting. ' The event of the coming week promises to bo the Kountro-Uurns redding. Already the Invited guests from abroad are arriv ing In the city for the purpose of attend ing the ceremony. Others will anlvo during the early dnyo of the week and among them will be Miss Gertrude Kounlzo from Boston , Mr. Augustus Kountze from Now York and Air. llerger from Denver. Taken ao a whole , society Just now Is showing signs of life , yet It cannot continue In Its animated condition longer than a few days at the most , as Lent .Is almost hero. Until that Dsasn of 'fasting arrives , however , there will lo much to attract the attention of these residents of the city who enjoy the whirl of social pleasures. During the wool ; Just closed , aslJo from the weddings , there were any number of social events of more or lew Importance , In cluding the mtial number of rocoptlons , after noon tola and functions of a similar charac ter. One of the most beautiful , as well as one of the most fashionable , weddings ot the season was celebrated Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at St. John's Collegiate church , when Miss Kathrlno Crelghtou , the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Crelghton , was united In marriage to Dr. Charles C. Allison , one of the most popular young physlc'ans of this city. * f The beautiful and solemn Impressive ceremony was performed by Father Lagao , and was witnessed by a largo and fashionable congregation , made up of the friends and members of the families of the contracting parties. The church was never more handsomely and elaborately decorated with palms , roses and holiday greens , which were festooned from the celling and wound abcut the pillars. The pows for the family and most Intimate friends were marked off by white satin rib bons. The bridal party entered the church tc the familiar strains of the Lohengrin bridal march. First came the ushers , who wore Messrs. L. T. Crofoot , Ward Burgess and II. V. Burkley , Edmund Krug and Frank McGinn. Then followed the bridesmaids. Miss Emma Crelghton and Miss Mary Malonc , who were charming In tholr dainty white ograndles , trimmed In lace. They wore becoming whlto tulle hats , trimmed with ostrich plumes. Their bouquets ot La France roses were prettier than have been seen for many a day. Next came two ot the dearest llttlo ( lower girls , who were pretty as pictures. Llttlo Eugenia Cudahy ' wore whlto Swiss over pink silk , which was very becoming 'to her brunette beauty , while llttlo Esther Nash , In whlto over blue ! Ik , was as dainty as a llttlo Dresden statuette. They carried white roes. Tbo brldo , who Is one of Omaha's favorites , and who is a tall , graceful blonde of the purest and fairest typo , was a vision of loveliness as she came down the aisle on the arm ot her father. She was mot at the chancel rail by the grocm and his best man , Mr. S. E. Megcath. The marriage vows were spoken to the accompaniment of sweet music , Prof. Sutorlus on the mandolin playing Angel's Serenade , accompanied by Mrs. Burkhart. Nuptial mass was celebrated and Mrs. Cudahy sang "O Salutarls" In a clear , sweet voice. The brldo were an elegant white duchess eatln gown , handsomely trimmed In pearl passementerie and duchess lace. The long tulle veil was caught with orange blossoms. The superb bouquet was of brldo's roses , with bunches of white violets tied at the ribbon ends. ends.At At noon a wedding breakfast was served at the residence of the bride's parents to the wedding party and clergymen. Rev. Bishop Bcannell presiding. The wedding re ception , which followed In the evening was a beautiful and very enjoyable , affair. The house was elaborately and elegantly dec orated with palms , ferns , carnations , p'.nk and red roses. Hugo bouquets were placed on every available stand and the mantel pieces were tanked with flowers. Mr. and Mrs. John D , Crelghton and Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Allison received the guests from 7 until almoet 9. Assisting throughout the rooms were : Misses Nash , Palmer , Amy Darker , Crounso , Morse , Duck , Brown , Llndsey , Mount , Drown of Council Bluffs ; Mtsdnmcs Carton , Dough erty , Summers , McGinn and Itnyor. Miss NaHi ahd Miss Palmer ass'stcd at the punch bowl and served "Sabanlon a la Venarl. " In the dining room Mrs. J. E. Summers served colfeo , and Mrs. Henry Cartan served salad , Champagne was served from the buffett , by way of Innovation. Dr. Summers , Dr. Ulley , Dr. Lee , Dr. Bridges , Messrs. D. 8. Cartan , Palmer , Morsinan and the ushers also assisted. Dr. and Mrs. Allison left the house about 9 o'clock amid a shower of rice and old shoes and the best ot wishes for a trip through south and east. The bride's bouquet was caught by Miss Mount. Dilnty boxes of wedding cake were distributed by the , little flower girls. The floors were canvased and a number of the younger set stayed and Indulged In dancing until a late hour. A pretty home wedding occurred at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton , 1030 South avenue , Wednesday afternoon , when their daughter , Blanche Victoria , was mar ried , to Mr. P. M. Somes of ChlcJgo. Uev. John Gordon , pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church , performed the cere mony , assisted by Ilev. W. H. Snydor. The floral deccuatlons were profuse and in ex quisite taste , pink roses , carnations , hya cinths and smllax being used , Misses Zetta Churchill , Vivian McDowell , Lola Plorson and Will Somes acted as rlbbcn boarora. The bride were a dainty French organdie , trimmed In Valenciennes lace and white satin ribbons. She carried pink roses and a handkerchief that was carried by the groorn'o mother forty-three years ago. Mrs. Hamilton , mother ot the bride , were black satlu with yellow silk bodice covered with black chiffon , Mrs. Strang were cream satin and lace ; Mrs. Palinatler , pink silk and chiffon : Mrs. Doss , white silk crepe- ; Miss Churchill , pink organdie , trimmed. Governor and Mrs. Holcomb were stationed Just within the entrance of the superintendent's office and here the guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Glllosplo nnd the Introduction to the chief executive took place. Next to the governor stood the state officers , and assist ing them In receiving were Mr. and Mra Guy C. Barton , Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Lyman , Mrs. C. B. Yost and Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Coutant , Among the honored guests present were : ex-Governors Saunders , Bcyd , and Crounse. Such a meeting of old seniors and people who know each other well but do not meet oich other often has seldom been known In Nebraska. An orchestra was stationed In the largo dining room which had been cleared of tables and the younger people danced , while the older ones fell Into little groups and talked of "early days. " Refresh ments were deftly served by the pupils of the Institution In the smaller dining rooms , and later on someof the pupils gave ono of their unique songs by the language of signs , those participating being : Misses Estelle Forbss , Mary Donnelly , Mamie ' Hall. The chandeliers were- fes tooned gracefully with smllax and the globes wcro covered with pink shades , which cast a becoming light over all. The masquerade given by the dancing club was a pretty and novel affair , " Many pretty costumes were worn , and the prizes wore awarded Miss Doane and Mr. Gulou. Miss Daisy Dwneas a butterfly , In the prettiest and airiest of costumes , was given a silver bonbonnlere for the most unique ladles' costume worn. . The fluffy skirts were of red tarletan trimmed around the bottom with tiny black ruffles of the same material. The low cut bodice was of black velvet trimmed with gold spangles after the man ner of the masking of a butterfly. On the back was worn a hugo black gauze butterfly with outspread wings. The high , powdered coiffure was also decorated with butterflies. Miss Curtis , In the daintiest of whlto mus lin gowns , made In true short-watsted baby's style , with white cap , yellow curls and a blR doll , was a picture. Miss Crounse attracted a great deal of at tention In a ball costume worn by an Omaha lady thirty years ago , at an affair at the residence of H. W. Yates. It was a trained and low-necked gown of old rosj , completely covered with the tiniest of whlto Swiss ruf fles. A big hat with pink roses and nodding plumes made the old time picture quite complete. Mrs. Wheeler was "Cynthia , " In a Quaker costume of dainty gray. Under a tiny whlto cap a lot of yellow curls showed most fetch- Ingly. Miss Hlmc-baugh was lovely , as usual. In a La Tosca costume , a short-walsted gown of Watteau design worn with a huge poke bonnet of old rose covered with plumes. A most becoming whlto colffura , together with patches and a long staff , completed this picturesque character. Miss Wallace was lovely In a Watteau costume of pink fatln , worn with the be coming powder and patches. Miss Morse was very handsome In a most perfect Italian peasant costume. Miss Boll wore a dainty summer gown with a picturesque Leghorn hat. Miss Chandler , as Annie Roonoy , In a cotton gown of the most dazzling red , and a hat trimmed with red reyes , pink and green bows and green plumes and alsa wear ing most remarkable gloves and parasol , was the life of the whole party. Mlsa Burke was beautiful In a , true Juliet costume , her dark hair falling unconflncd under the most bewitching of Juliet caps. Miss Crelghton was a school girl with slates , etc. Miss Burns wore a white organdie , with powdered hair. Miss Rlngwalt was very pretty In a yel low gown trimmed with black and a mop of yellow curls. . Mrs. Mercer , In a true Japanese costume , , was a picture. The gentlemen , with few exceptions , wore domi- rroea of divers colors. Mr Gulou , In that most beautiful Lohen grin costume of silver mall , carried off tha gentlemen's prize. Mr. Cowln were the most unique cos tume among the men. Ho was a perfect picture of Trilby as she appears In the old military coat with striped skirt and slip- psra. His "make up" was very clever. Jaynes gave a muslcale Friday at her home , 1621 Emmet street , that will long bo remembered by those who were present both for the great pleasure given by the musicians and the delightful absence of formality among the guests. The cur tains were drawn , excluding the dull day light and misty air , and In the soft mellow light of the myriads of candles and shaded lamps the guests forgot the disagreeable at mosphere outside and gave themselves up to the enjoyment of the music and each ithor.
