CHICAGO , April IC.-Aftcr nn early adVance - Vance on heavy short covering today wheat weakened on the liberal shipments from competing countries and closed unchanged for May. May corn closed at ' , c lower , May oats V o lower and provisions at Blight declines. The news received by cable this morning was BO decidedly bearish that jirevlous to the oM > nlng of the session a decline In wheat for the day seemed Inevitable. That was the Impression on the curb previous to the start , OOUc being this quoted value then of May , compared with Wj\kc as the market was coming to a close yesterday. When trading commenced up stairs so much Was found to be wanted at G0'ic and even nt K-'HiC that very soon no ono would sell nt any such prices. The result was that Instead of nn expected break an advance commenced which carried May price up to Oi'ic. and It had no other apparent foun dation than a panic among the May shorts. Bt. It Is said , covercil 2,000 , ' CO bu. or more ot May wheat In the first hour of the session and the local contingent were not behind In the btiuggle with St. Louis for a share of the limited offerings. OMAHA OL'NKItAL MAIIKKT. Condition of Trudo nnd Oiintatloiu on btnplo nnil I'linoy Produce. The refusal of the OKI : market to break con- tlnuea a source of annoyance tcj the cold storage people. The high price of beef nnd the Easter trade created n demand that kept prices up pretty well last week. Chicago Produce says that the largo buyers have persistently refused to purchase eggs for storage nt the prices rullntr. Ono laigo concern turned down offers to sell represented In a stack of telegrams nearly two Inches high In two days. Others fulloned the lead , nnd the laiger tOilppcrs of the west dis posed of their efies through other channel * . A great many placed them In Btorage upon their mvn account , piefvrrlng to carry them lather than In make c < nresslonii. In addition tohat has been put In storage by ( he large outside dcalem , a good many com mission ineichants nljtiK the. Btieet have put eggs anay. Of course the cgijs c mlng RI picsmt me very line , and are cool \\Hnthfr eggs , which makes them attractive to deulcts who have a place with their regular trade to put such eggs duilng the ojnilng fcnEon. The large ilei\lei ot this point who have refuird to buy nt the iiilniK IlKiirt-s have , ns n matter of necessity , refused to sell , hnvlnx noth ing to offer , nnd have lulvlbed their custumets to holil off until nfier Easier. The majority have rtini'Unled to ilo this , but at the same time the present llbeial reci-ljits have found their way- out uf the market In tome minner , and In the I'hlcaK" maiket It has been fully ns dllllcult to buv na to sell nt the pi Ices quoted. The taixe dealetH claim that unices they are nble to buy eggs at reasonable llgute , there will lie no money In the husincKi for them this > ear. With n louer Canadian tiiiiff , nnd gvicral liu lnes. They also expect that KUinmor and full pioiluellun will be heavier this year because of the light Bprlng production up ti > the llrst uf this munlh , nnd cite this as another reason why extraordinary care should bo exercised by eueculatois In their operations thla 5 ear. On tlio other hand the bulls In the market claim that the rapid advance In beef , aid the extremely high prices now ruling nnd likely to rule during the year , will make a Kicater demand for eggs for tnlile purposes. Hut even the most sanguine In this respect admit thai this la n pretty uncertain foundation up n which In speculate. CATTLE Out of the eighty-four fresh loads of cattle reported In the yards there were eleven loads that were consigned direct to a packer and were not offered on the market. There wns a train of heavy Cali fornia beeves nnd another train of the Sparks cattle from Nevada. There were only four or live loads of cornfed native cattle In the yards. The market was very active nnd It seemed hard work for buyers nnd sellers to come together on a trading basis. There was no strength or snap to the trade , and the best that could be said of It was that prices remained about steady with yesterday. A few natives brought $5 and $5.20 , while the train of Nevada cattle went at $1.63. Some lighter Wyoming nnd Idaho steers sold at $1.35 and $1.40. and some little New Mexican steers nt $3.UO. There were about eight loads of cows nnd heifers In the yards , nnd with the demand good the offerings were practically nil taken before 9 o'clock In the morning. It wns a good strong ami active market. Some Colorado rado cows brought $3.GO , while native heifers Bold at $1 and even ns high as JI.&O for ono bunch. Cow stuff Is selling relatively higher than steers , and the market Is much more active and In a far more satisfactory condi tion. tion.Tho The fresh receipts of stockers and feeders were not large and ns noted yesterday there wns a better feeling prevailing In the market. The outplde buyers have cleaned up the yards pretty well , nnd It would be safe to quote desirable feeders as a little stronger. The trade today was fairly active and qulle a good many cattle changed bands before the close. Representative sales : BEEF STEERS. No. Av. Pr. No. Av. Pr. No. Av. The remedy la a combination of fruit and ve e- table essences , pure aseptic pepsin and golden seal put lu the form of pleasant tasting tablets - lets and sold by druggists under the name ot Sturart'i Dyspepsia Tablets. One or two of these tablets should bo taken after meal a and allowed to dissolve In the mouth and mingling with the food In the stomach dl- gesU It completely before It hag tlmo to ferment , decay and sour.
